Men's Tennis Sweeps Arkansas in SEC Opener
Rebels Defeat Razorbacks 7-0 on the Road
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ole Miss (4-2, 1-0 SEC) won 7-0 over Arkansas (6-3, 0-1 SEC) in the Rebels' Southeastern Conference opening match on Sunday.
Ole Miss won across the board on Sunday, winning eight matches with one unfinished. The Rebels lost two total sets to the Razorbacks. Ole Miss earns its first sweep of the 2021 season.
In singles, the Rebels won all six matches in resilient fashion. Ole Miss won four of five tiebreaks against the Razorbacks. Simon Junk and Jakob Cadonau won in third-set super tiebreaks to preserve the total sweep for the Rebels.
Finn Reynolds earned his first ranked victory of the season by defeating Arkansas' No. 72 Alex Reco in straight sets. Reynolds won 6-2, 7-5, ending Reco's seven-match win streak. Tim Sandkaulen earned his first singles victory of the dual season by defeating Maxim Verboven 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles. Nikola Slavic won 6-2, 6-1 over the Razorback's Nico Rousset. John Hallquist Lithén earned his third consecutive victory by winning over Arkansas' Adrien Burdet in two tiebreaks. Ole Miss improved to 18-15 overall in singles during the dual season.
In doubles, the Rebels clinched the opening point by winning on courts one and three. No. 7 Reynolds and Sandkaulen won 6-2 over Verboven and Paya. Reynolds and Sandkaulen have won 13 of their last 15 dual matches as a team. Junk and Brady Draheim defeated Melvin Manuel and Jose D. Alonso 6-4 to claim doubles for Ole Miss. The Rebels improved to 10-7 in doubles across six dual matches.

Ole Miss will compete at Georgia next Friday, Feb. 26. The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 12.
