Rebels Begin SEC Season Against Razorbacks

FAYETEVILLE, Ark. – Ole Miss men's tennis (1-4, 0-0 SEC) opens the 2021 SEC season at Arkansas (6-2, 0-0 SEC) on Sunday.
 
Individual Success
 
Despite earning one match victory this season, Ole Miss has collected 12 wins in singles and owns a positive double record at 8-7.
 
Four Rebels, John Hallquist Lithén, Simon Junk, Finn Reynolds and Nikola Slavic, have three singles wins each. At No. 3 singles, Slavic has defeated three top-125 ranked opponents. Slavic has a career record of 13-4 in duals. At No. 5 singles. Lithén has won his last two matches in straight sets.
 
In doubles, No. 7 Reynolds and Tim Sandkaulen have started the season strong. The 2020 ITA All-American duo have a 4-1 record this season and look to win their fifth straight match. Sandkaulen leads Ole Miss with eight doubles victories in the 2020-21 season.
  
Last Time Facing Arkansas

 
Ole Miss defeated Arkansas 4-3 last season. The Rebels were swept in doubles before Sandkaulen, Reynolds, Slavic, and Lukas Engelhardt claimed singles victories. The last five contests between the Rebels and the Razorbacks have all gone to seven matches.
 
Scouting the Razorbacks

 
Arkansas enters the SEC season with a 6-2 overall record. Most recently, the Razorbacks lost 4-3 at No. 15 Oklahoma State last Sunday. Arkansas has earned wins over Omaha, Illinois State, Tulsa, Washington and Oral Roberts. Through eight duals, the Razorbacks have won 37 of 48 singles matches, however they are 23-27 in doubles.
 
The Razorbacks feature one ranked singles player, No. 72 Alex Reco. The Nantes, France native is currently 8-1 (7-0 in duals) this season. He has won 17 of his last 19 matches.
 
Next Up
 
Ole Miss will compete at Georgia next Friday, Feb. 26. The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 12.
