Women’s Golf Ends First Day in Seventh at Gators Invitational

Lignell, Johnson Tied for 12th Place Individually in Florida
GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The Ole Miss women's golf team shot a 293 (+13) Sunday and sit in seventh place after the first day of play at the Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Florida.
Julia Johnson and Andrea Lignell paced the Rebels with a first round 72 (+2) and both sit in 12th place individually.
Johnson, a senior from St. Gabriel, Louisiana, started the day strong with a birdie on the first hole. Johnson was 1-under at the turn. Johnson rebounded from a double-bogey and bogey to birdie No. 14.
Lignell also got out to a hot start, tallying birdie on both No. 1 and No. 5. The Gotenburg, Sweden, native is fifth in the field in par-4 scoring (E).
Sophomore Chiara Tamburlini is tied for 21st overall after a 3-over, 73. Tamburlini tied with Johnson for the team lead with 13 pars in the first round.
Senior Kennedy Swann and freshman Smilla Sonderby wrapped up play for the Rebels, both carding a 76 (+6) and are tied for 47th overall.
The Rebels will tee off second round of play Monday morning with a shotgun start at 7:30 a.m. CT.
