Nikola Slavic Clinches Rebels' Victory in Third Set Tiebreak
STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 18 Ole Miss (7-7, 4-3 SEC) won a nail-biting match at No. 24 Oklahoma State (6-5, 0-0 Big 12) on Sunday.
The Rebels improved to 7-7 (4-3 SEC) this season after defeated the Cowboys in Stillwater. Ole won both matches this weekend, both against ranked opponents (No. 36 Tulsa, March 19). The Rebels improved to 4-1 on the road this season. Ole Miss has defeated Oklahoma State in each of the last three seasons. Ole Miss Head Coach Toby Hansson earned his 100th career victory with the Rebels' win over the Cowboys.
Ole Miss battled Oklahoma State in a wire-to-wire match. The Rebels started Sunday with a 1-0 deficit after narrowly losing in doubles 2-1. No. 7 Finn Reynolds and Tim Sandkaulen won their match first, 6-3, over Oklahoma State's Henrik Korsgaard and Matej Vocel. The Cowboys tied doubles 1-1 by spoiling Brady Draheim's return match at the Greenwood Tennis Center. Emile Hudd and Dominik Kellovsky won 6-4 over Draheim and Simon Junk. The Rebels lost the deciding match by the slimmest of margins. Jakob Cadonau and Jan Soren Hain fell 7-6 (5) to Etienne Donnet and Mathieu Scaglia at No. 3 Doubles.
The Rebels won four of six singles matches versus the Cowboys. John Hallquist Lithén leveled the match at one by defeating Scaglia 6-1, 6-2. Lithén improved to 8-5 this season.
Oklahoma State reclaimed the lead 2-1 after No. 49 Vocel defeated No. 62 Sandkaulen 6-3, 6-2. The Rebels would not trail for the remainder of the match.
Reynolds tied the match 2-2 by defeated No. 86 Korsgaard in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. Reynolds earned his fifth ranked victory this season.
Junk took the lead for the Rebels by defeating the Cowboys' Donnet 6-4, 6-3. Junk started at No. 6 singles for the first time this season.
The match was tied again, 3-3, after Lukas Engelhardt fell in three sets to No. 61 Dominik Kellovsky, 6-4, 1-6, 5-7. Engelhardt lead 5-2 in the third set prior to Kellovsky's comeback win.
Nikola Slavic clinched the match for Ole Miss in dramatic fashion. Slavic and No. 101 Hudd split the first two sets 6-7 (3) and 6-4. Slavic and Hudd traded games back-and-forth to go to a third set tiebreaker. Slavic one the tie 7-1, and won both his individual match while sealing a victory for the Rebels. Slavic, unranked, improved to 9-5 this season and leads Ole Miss with six victories versus ranked opponents. He earned his 25th career singles victory with the win.

Ole Miss will host rival Mississippi State at home Sunday March 28, at 1 p.m. C.T. The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 20 in the nation.
