Three Rebels Shoot Under Par During First Round at SEC Championship

Ole Miss is Tied for Fourth After 18 Holes at Greystone Golf Club
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Three Rebels fired rounds under par Wednesday during the first round of the SEC Championship to put the Ole Miss women's golf team in a tie for fourth place after the first 18 holes.
Ole Miss carded a 279 (-9) at the Greystone Golf Club in Birmingham, Alabama, and trail tournament leader LSU by seven strokes.
Julia Johnson registered five birdies and 13 pars on the day to lead the Rebels with a first round 67 (-5). Johnson, a senior from St. Gabriel, Louisiana, started the day solid and steady with 10 pars and one birdie through the first 11 holes.
Johnson caught fire on the back nine, tallying four birdies in her final seven holes, including three straight on No. 12, 13 and 14. She's in a tie for fourth place individually.
Ellen Hume fired a season-best 68 (-4) and is tied for 13th. The Whitwell, England, native had a team-high six birdies during the first round. Hume leads the Rebels in par-3 scoring (-1) and par-5 scoring (-2).
Sophomore Andrea Lignell was the third Rebel to card a round of under par. Lignell fired a 1-under, 71, and is tied for 30th place.
Chiara Tamburlini was also in action for the Rebels. The sophomore from St. Gallen, Switzerland, is in 50th place after a first day 74 (+2). Senior Kennedy Swann was also a counting score for Ole Miss, shooting a 73 (+1) and is tied for 44th.
Tamburlini will start things off Thursday morning for the Rebels with an 8:50 a.m. CT tee time off the front tees. Ole Miss will be paired with Auburn and Florida.
