Rebels in Fourth After Two Rounds at Greystone Golf Club

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Ole Miss women's golf team sits in fourth place overall after all five Rebels tallied rounds under par Thursday during the second day of play at the SEC Championship in Birmingham, Alabama.

The Rebels shot a second round 280 (-8) at the Greystone Golf & Country Club to remain in the hunt to be one of the eight teams that qualifies for match play competition beginning Saturday.

Senior Julia Johnson continues to lead the way for Ole Miss. Johnson was one of four Rebels to tally a 2-under, 70, on Thursday. Johnson is 7-under for the tournament and is tied for sixth. A top 5 finish tomorrow would give Johnson 15 for her career, the most ever in program history.

Ellen Hume shot in red numbers for the second consecutive day, firing a 70 (-2) and is in 12th place (68-70—138). Hume is leading the Rebels in par-5 scoring and birdies (10).

Andrea Lignell registered a 1-under, 71 on Thursday, matching her score from the first round. Lignell is 2-under for the tournament (71-71—142) and is currently tied for 30th place overall.

Kennedy Swann saved her best for last during Thursday's second round. Swann, a senior from Austin, Texas, was sitting at even par headed into her 18th and final hole. After her tee shot left her 203 yards from the pin, Swann pulled out a 3 hybrid and hit it to within inches of the cup. She would go on to tap in for eagle and would finish at 2-under (70) for the day. After two days, Swann is tied for 34th (73-70—143).

Chiara Tamburlini earned a counting score with a second round 70 (-2) Thursday. For the second consecutive week, the sophomore from St. Gallen, Switzerland, registered an eagle in tournament play. After 36 holes, Tamburlini (74-70—144) is tied for 40th.

Ole Miss will get their third and final round of stroke play started Friday morning at 8:50 a.m. CT. The Rebels will be paired with Mississippi State and Arkansas.
