Rebels in Third Place After 36 Holes in Baton Rouge

BATON ROUGE, La. – The Ole Miss women's golf team sits in third place after 36 holes at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic on Tuesday, at the University Club (Par 72; 6,350 yards), in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. 
 
The Rebels used three eagles on the day to post team rounds of 287 (-1) and 295 (+7) and lead five top 25 teams with a two-round total of 582 (+6). Ole Miss' first 18 score of 287 was the third-lowest round of the day, behind tournament leader LSU (278) and second place Vanderbilt (286).
 
Senior Julia Johnson paced the Rebels during the first two rounds with an even par 144 (69-75) and sits in a six-way tie for eighth place individually. After Tuesday's first 18 holes, Johnson had the individual lead with a first round 69 (-3).
 
Johnson is tied for third in the field with nine birdies. The St. Gabriel, Louisiana, native is seeking her sixth straight top 10 finish.
 
Kennedy Swann used a first round 70 to currently sit tied for 14th with a two-round total of 145 (+1) after day one at the University Club. After back-to-back bogeys to start the day, Swann rebounded to fire three birdies on her next four holes. Swann's highlight on Tuesday was when she holed out from 30 yards for eagle on No. 14.
 
Chiara Tamburlini, a sophomore from St. Gallen, Switzerland, is the third Rebel in the top 20 after Tuesday's two round. Tamburlini (73-73—146) is second in the field in par-5 scoring (-4), including an eagle on the par-5 No. 6, and is tied for 18th.
 
Ellen Hume and Andrea Lignell rounded out play for Ole Miss. Lignell posted back-to-back rounds of 75 (75-75—150) and is tied for 39th. After a rough go of it during the first round, Hume led the Rebels with a second round even par and is in a tie for 60th overall (82-72—154).
 
Ole Miss will begin the third and final round Wednesday with a 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The Rebels will be paired with LSU and Vanderbilt.
