Women’s Tennis Moves Up One Spot in Team Leaderboard
TEMPE, Ariz. – Ole Miss men's tennis (9-8, 6-4 SEC) fell three spots to No. 12 in the Oracle/ITA team rankings. Women's tennis (9-7, 5-5 SEC) improved one position to No. 26 in the updated rankings on Wednesday.
Starting Wednesday, both ITA computerized and coaches' rankings are to be released weekly. Men's tennis ranked highest at No. 12 in the computerized rankings. Women's tennis advanced from No. 27 to No. 26 in the computerized rankings, and remained at No. 27 in the coaches' poll.
Last weekend, men's tennis won at Auburn, 4-3, and fell at home to No. 35 Alabama, 4-3. The Rebels loss to Alabama snapped their four-match win streak (longest of the season). Ole Miss and Alabama have split two matches played this season (Rebels won 4-1, Jan. 23). The match at Auburn was Ole Miss' first match played versus a non-ranked opponent since Feb. 21 (at Arkansas, won 7-0).
Ole Miss women's tennis won its only match played last weekend. The Rebels defeated No. 40 Mississippi State 4-1 on the road in Starkville. Ole Miss has faced eight straight ranked opponents, winning four of eight. The Rebels will conclude the regular season facing two more ranked opponents, hosting No. 21 Vanderbilt on Thursday and No. 23 Kentucky on Saturday.
