Women’s Golf Advances to NCAA Championships

Baton Rouge Regional Canceled Due to Inclement Weather
BATON ROUGE, La. – The No. 5 Ole Miss women's golf team advanced to its third straight NCAA Championships after the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional was canceled Wednesday. Due to seven inches of rain drowning the University Club throughout the week, play was canceled for all three days of the tournament (May 10-12).
"The NCAA Division I Women's Golf Committee regrets that the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championships regional in Baton Rouge could not be conducted as scheduled this week," said Rick Nixon, Associate Director of Championships and Alliances/Media Services for the NCAA. "The Division I Women's Golf Committee, NCAA staff and the Games Committee in Baton Rouge have been in constant communication throughout the past several days about the course conditions that have led to this unprecedented and most difficult decision."
Since zero of the tournament rounds were able to be completed, the regional's top six seeds automatically advanced to the NCAA Championships (May 21-26) at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona. The Rebels earned the No. 2 seed in the Baton Rouge Regional following strong fall and spring seasons, securing their spot in the national championships. Also advancing as part of the top six seeds were LSU, Baylor, Oregon, Maryland and Alabama.
