SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The Ole Miss women's team remained inside the top 10 after the second round of play at the NCAA Championship in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The Rebels improved five shots on Friday's first round score to card a team score of 291 (+3) Saturday at Grayhawk Golf Club and sit in seventh place as a team.

"The course played much different today than it did yesterday, with a little bit less wind," head coach Kory Henkes said. "We finished strong on the last few holes, playing them a couple under par. One of the biggest things about this team is that they never give up and they fight until the end."

For the second straight day, the Rebels were led by senior Julia Johnson. The St. Gabriel, Louisiana, native fired a 1-under, 71, and currently is tied for 11th place individually at 144 (73-71) through two rounds.

The highlight of the day for Johnson came on the par-5, No. 7 when she chipped in for eagle out of the rough from 15 yards. Johnson ranks third in the field in par-5 scoring (-5).

Andrea Lignell and Kennedy Swann both registered a second round 73 (+1) during play Saturday. Lignell is in 22nd place overall at 146 (73-73), while Swann is tied for 40th (75-73—148).

Lignell, a native of Gothenburg, Sweden, tallied a team-best four birdies on Saturday, including three in the first nine holes.

Swann got off to fast start with a birdie on No. 12 & 13. After a bogey on No. 15, Swann rebounded to birdie the par-4, No. 17. She'd go on to make par on the next hole to make the turn at 2-under. Three bogies on her back nine took Swann just outside the red numbers for the day.

Chiara Tamburlini and Smilla Sonderby were also in action for the Rebels, both posting a 74 (+2). Tamburlini is currently in 53rd place (75-74—149).

Sonderby, playing in place of Ellen Hume, caught fire of the back nine, tallying a season-best four birdies in her first 18 holes at the NCAA Championship.

Ole Miss will begin third round of play Sunday morning at 9:36 a.m. CT. The Rebels will be paired with LSU and Oregon.

After Sunday's round, the field will be cut to the top 15 teams and top nine individuals not on an advancing team for Monday. Monday's fourth round of stroke play will take place, at which point the individual national champion will be crowned.

Also following the fourth round, the field will be cut to the top eight teams to move on to the match play bracket beginning Tuesday, which will be seeded in order of finish in stroke play.

A knockout match play competition will then take place to determine the team national champion. Quarterfinal and semifinal match play rounds will be held Tuesday, May 25, with the Championship to be on Wednesday, May 26.
