Rebels Men’s Tennis Finishes 2021 Season Ranked in Top 15
TEMPE, Ariz. – Ole Miss men's tennis held at No. 14 and Ole Miss women's tennis stayed in the top 30 at No. 28 in the final Oracle/ITA team rankings released on Wednesday. Rebels men's tennis finishes ranked in the top 15 in back-to-back seasons.
Men's tennis concludes the 2021 spring season ranked No. 14 in the final team rankings. The Rebels have held the No. 14 ranking over the final three weeks of the season and have ranked in the top 15 across the final eight rankings. The Rebels peaked in the Oracle/ITA team rankings at No. 9 this season twice on March 24 and March 30. Ole Miss concluded the season with a 13-11 overall record and 7-5 record in SEC competition. The Rebels improved one position from their 2020 final ranking of No. 15.
Rebels men's tennis received the No. 15 overall seed in the NCAA Team Championship. Ole Miss hosted first and second round regional matches and earned sweeps versus Belmont (May 8) and No. 22 Tulane (May 9). The Rebels fell to NCAA Team Championship runner-up Baylor in the Sweet 16 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida on May 17. The Bears were the No. 2 overall seed in the tournament and ranked No. 1 in the Oracle/ITA poll. The Rebels placed among seven SEC programs to finish in the final top-15 of the final national rankings.
Ole Miss women's tennis moved back three spots from its previous ranking of No. 25 to conclude the season ranked No. 28 in the final team rankings. The Rebels finished the 2021 campaign with a 11-10 overall record and 7-6 record in SEC play. Ole Miss ranked in the top 30 across 11 of the 16 total rankings released this year. The Rebels are joined by nine other SEC programs to conclude the season ranked in the Oracle/ITA top 30.
Rebels women's tennis earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Team Championships, falling in the first round to North Florida on May 7 in Atlanta, Georgia. The Rebels returned to the team tournament for the first time since 2018.
