SEC Women’s Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year Receives Regional Recognition

TEMPE, Ariz. – Ole Miss' Tereza Janatova was named the ITA Southern Region Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award recipient as released by the ITA on Monday.
 
Tereza Janatova concludes her final season as a member of the Ole Miss tennis team by earning the prestigious Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship Award. Janatova earns the 10th Arthur Ashe Award in program history and becomes the ninth different Rebel to win the award. Teammate Alexa Bortles most recently won the award for the region in 2020.
 
On the court, Janatova earned 114 career victories. She has a career singles record of 62-26 (41-12 in duals) and doubles record of 52-39 (33-29 in duals). Janatova earned career-high singles and doubles rankings in 2021, peaking at No. 80 in singles (March 24) and No. 44 in doubles (Jan. 13). This season she was 2-1 versus ranked opponents in singles and 1-1 in doubles. She won 10 of 14 dual singles matches in 2021 including five of six in SEC play. The Rebels have reached the NCAA Team Championships four times in Janatova's career: 2016, 2017, 2018 (Sweet 16) and 2021.
 
Janatova was named the SEC Women's Tennis Scholar Athlete of the Year this season. She has a 4.0 GPA in her graduate level engineering program at the University of Mississippi and graduated with a 3.95 GPA in the undergraduate engineering program. She plans to finish her graduate degree after concluding her tennis career at Ole Miss. Janatova is a four-time ITA Scholar-Athlete (2017-2020) and five-time SEC Academic Honor Roll recipient (2016-2020).
 
Janatova was named to the SEC Community Service Team in both 2018 and 2019. She helped to organize the A Hope to Dream event, where children in need receive mattresses and other supplies. Janatova also volunteered through the Tim Tebow Foundation for the A Night to Shine Event. She has volunteered in the Reading with the Rebels program, Adopt A Basket collection gathering event, the CASA Superhero Race and as a tennis clinic volunteer at the Oxford Public Courts. Janatova has served as a member of the Ole Miss Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and as an executive on the Ole Miss International Student Athlete Committee.
