Rebels to Attend Annual Meeting Thursday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference Men's and Women's Basketball Leadership Council will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, conducting the gathering this year in a virtual format. Junior guards Austin Crowley (men's basketball) and Donnetta Johnson (women's basketball) will represent the Rebels on the leadership council for the second straight year.

The council consists of one male representative and one female representative from each of the SEC's 14 institutions. The goal of the leadership council is for student-athletes to serve as a conduit of communication from their teams to the conference office on issues related to student-athlete experience, student-athlete wellness, and to provide feedback on proposed rules governing the SEC and NCAA.

Crowley has played in 59 of the Rebels' 60 games since arriving on campus. The West Point, Mississippi, native led the bench in playing time as a freshman before seeing action in nearly game last season as well. His sophomore campaign featured an 11-point output against UT Martin, tying a career high. Crowley also helped push the Rebels past Auburn at home, scoring eight points to go along with career highs in rebounds (10) and steals (4). Academically, he has landed on SEC Academic Honor Rolls in each of the past two seasons.

Johnson returns to the council as one of the key veterans on the Ole Miss women's basketball team. Johnson enjoyed a breakout first season of action with the Rebels in 2020-21, ranking second on the team with 12.0 points per game. Johnson was crucial in big moments, averaging 13.3 ppg versus both ranked teams and on national TV. Of her four games with at least 20 points, three happened in front of a national audience. Johnson has additional previous leadership experience as a member of the Ole Miss Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the Ole Miss Black Student-Athlete Council.

The SEC Men's Basketball Leadership Council and the SEC Women's Basketball Leadership Council comprise two components of the SEC Student-Athlete Leadership Council. The third component is the SEC Football Leadership Council, which meets each January.
