Football Duo Earns SEC Weekly Accolades

Corral, James Named Players of the Week Following Tulane Win
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Two Rebels collected weekly honors from the Southeastern Conference after a 61-21 win over Tulane, the league office announced Monday.
Quarterback Matt Corral earned SEC Offensive Player of the Week honors, while sophomore tackle Jeremy James took home SEC Co-Offensive Lineman of the Week accolades.
Corral became the first player in SEC history with three passing TDs and four rushing TDs in a single game, finishing with 403 yards and seven total touchdowns. The seven total touchdowns tied the school record set in 1951 by Showboat Boykin against Mississippi State.
The Ventura, California, native finished the game 23-of-31 for 335 yards, with three passing touchdowns and no interceptions. He also rushed for 68 yards and a career-high four TDs on the ground. Corral has thrown a touchdown pass in 15 straight games, the third-longest streak in school history.
James paved the way for a landmark Ole Miss offense that amassed 41 first downs, tying the SEC record. He helped the Rebels total 707 offensive yards, which marked the fourth-most ever by an Ole Miss team.
The Rebels converted on 7-of-8 trips to the red zone with James at right tackle. James played in 84 snaps and didn't allow a sack against Tulane.
Ole Miss will have an open week this weekend before traveling to Tuscaloosa, Oct. 2, to square off against top-ranked Alabama.
