Boogerd Named SEC Women’s Runner of the Week After Victory Last Friday
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Ole Miss women's cross country student-athletes Skylar Boogerd (SEC Women's Runner of the Week) and Addy Stevenson (SEC Women's Freshman Runner of the Week) have both been honored with weekly awards by the SEC on Tuesday afternoon.
Boogerd – a native of Atoka, Tennessee – was named the SEC's top women's runner of the week following her superb win in the 5K at the North Alabama Showcase, in which she dropped a massive 41-second personal best 16:28.01. She led the Rebel women to a dominant 70-point team win over Lipscomb (20-90) and was one of five Rebel scorers who all broke 17 minutes and finished within the top-seven at a scoring spread of just 31 seconds. Her time stands as the fastest regular season 5K run in the SEC since 2019, and the 10th-fastest overall in the SEC since the 2016 season. Boogerd was named the 2019 SEC Freshman of the Year after finishing 19th overall at the conference meet that season.
SEC Women's Freshman Runner of the Week Addy Stevenson of Katy, Texas, was part of that dominant Rebel women's team win at UNA last week, leading all Ole Miss freshmen with a 13th-place finish at 17:14.20 in her first career race as a Rebel. Her time stands as the second-fastest 5K run by a freshman in the SEC this season.
The Rebel men and women return to action next Friday (Oct. 1) at Notre Dame for the Joe Piane Invitational.
