Tiphanie Fiquet Advances to Main Draw at ITF Fort Worth

Fiquet Wins Two Qualifying Matches in Straight Sets
FORT WORTH, TEXAS – Ole Miss Rebel Tiphanie Fiquet won back-to-back qualifying matches on Monday and Tuesday to earn a spot in the ITF Fort Worth W25 main draw on Wednesday.
Fiquet received the No. 4 seed in qualifying. She advanced through both qualifying rounds in a 32 person draw. Only eight qualifiers advanced to the 32-person main draw of the tournament, beginning on Wednesday.
Fiquet matched up against former Finnish U18 Champion and University of North Texas current player Liisa Vehvilainen in the opening qualifying round. Fiquet dominated both sets, defeating the Mean Green freshman 6-1, 6-1 on Monday.
Fiquet retained her momentum into Tuesday mornings match, claiming victory over former USC standout Rianna Valdes. Fiquet defeated Vales in straight sets, 6-2, 6-3. Fiquet has now earned victories in four of her last five ITF tournament matches. She reached the quarterfinals in the final W15 Monastir event ending on August 15. Fiquet last reached the main draw of a 25K level event at the ITF W25 Santo Domingo in June.

Fiquet will face Maria Lourdes Carle tomorrow in the first round of the singles main draw at Fort Worth. Carle, the No. 4 seed in the main draw, is currently ranked a career-high No. 43 in the ITF rankings and No. 276 in the WTA Singles Rankings. The match is scheduled to begin at approximately 10:30 a.m. following the conclusion of the 9 a.m. match on Court V1.
