Tamburlini, Lignell in Top 20 After Tail End of Round Two Postponed

RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The Ole Miss women's golf team wrapped up day one of the Lamkin Invitational at The Farms Golf Club on Monday, ending the day in seventh on the team leaderboard.

After being scheduled to play 36 holes on Monday, round two was suspended due to darkness, with some teams finishing their second rounds and others still having golfers with one to three holes remaining. Remaining holes from Monday's second round will be played out Tuesday morning prior to the tournament's third and final round.

Ole Miss ended the day with a total of 29 birdies as a team, while scoring their best on par-3 scoring (+7). All Rebel golfers were able to finish their second rounds except for redshirt-freshman McKinley Cunningham.

Leading the Rebels through the opening two rounds of play was Chiara Tamburlini, who logged a 70-73–143 (-1) scorecard on the day to sit tied for seventh heading into Tuesday's tournament finale. Tamburlini enters day two as the tournament leader in par-5 scoring (-4), while also leading the Rebels in par-4 scoring (-1).

Not far behind Tamburlini on the individual leaderboard is fellow junior Andrea Lignell, as the Gothenburg, Sweden, native logged rounds of 74 (+2) and 73 (+1) to end the opening day in a tie for 16th overall. Lignell currently leads the Rebels alongside teammate McKinley Cunningham in par-3 scoring, golfing at one-under in the category.

Cunningham's opening day at the Lamkin Invitational ended with her tied for 27th following a first round of 72 (E) and a second round where she sits six-over through 17 holes of play. The final hole of Cunningham's second round was postponed due to darkness and will be played out Tuesday morning.

Ending the day in a tie for 52nd, Julia Johnson's opening day in California wrapped up play with a two-round score of 155 (+11). After finishing with a two-round score of 161 (+17) on the day, freshman Natacha Host Husted rounded out play for the Rebels, ending her day tied for 72nd.

Leading the way on the team leaderboard at the end of day one is Stanford, who are two-under par, five strokes ahead of second place San Jose State.

The Rebels will begin the third and final round Tuesday morning following the conclusion of round two play for Cunningham and the field.
