Men’s Tennis Wins Doubles, Defeated 4-1 by No. 3 Baylor at ITA Nationals

Rebels Fall to Tournament’s No. 2 Seed in Round of 16
SEATTLE – No. 15 Ole Miss men's tennis (9-2, 0-0 SEC) earned one decision point off of the Baylor Bears, losing 4-1 to the No. 3 ranked team in the nation on Friday. The Rebels have been relegated to the consolation draw at the ITA National Indoor Tournament.
Ole Miss put forth a good fight versus one of the top teams in the country. The Rebels and Bears competed in a wire-to-wire doubles section prior to the Bears sweeping the singles portion of the dual. The match lasted exactly three hours.
Finn Reynolds and Lukas Engelhardt started the match with a statement win, defeating No. 12 Finn Bass and Sven Lah 7-5 to take a 1-0 Ole Miss lead in doubles. The Bears then leveled the doubles section by taking Court No. 2, 6-4. Nikola Slavic and John Hallquist Lithén won two pivotal games, tied 5-5, to win their match, clinch the doubles point and give the Rebels a 1-0 lead.
Baylor controlled the rest of the match, sweeping singles without losing a set. The Bears took No. 5 singles first, followed by No. 2 singles, No. 6 singles and clinched the match on Court three. Ole Miss was defeated by Baylor in the Round of 16 in the second consecutive major team tournament.
Up Next: The Rebels will next face No. 10 seed USC in the Consolation Draw at 5:30 p.m. CT on Saturday.
