Women’s Golf Climbs to Seventh on Final Day of ICON Invitational

Tamburlini Ends Tournament in Sixth, Earns Third Top 10 Finish of the Year
HUMBLE, Texas – The Ole Miss women's golf team wrapped up play at the ICON Invitational Tuesday by logging a round of 283 (-5) to finish tied for seventh with a three-round team score of 869 (+5) on the week.
The Rebels' tournament would end with the team sinking 40 total birdies on the week, including 13 on the final day of competition. Ole Miss would also finish 7-under as a team in par-5 scoring, ranking the best in the category amongst SEC teams in attendance.
Ending her tournament with the third top 10 finish and sixth straight top 20 finish of her 2021-22 season, Chiara Tamburlini's tournament concluded with a 69 (-3) in round three, logging four birdies and a three-under front nine to secure a share of sixth place individually.
Tamburlini's tournament would end with a team-high 12 birdies over three rounds, while also finishing second in the field in both par-3 (-4) and par-5 (-5) scoring. All three of Tamburlini's rounds on the week would end below par, as the junior from St. Gallen, Switzerland tied her career low with 209 (-7) over 54 holes.
Also putting together an impressive final round at the Golf Club of Houston was Andrea Lignell, who logged a 68 (-4) on the day, earning the lowest 18-hole score for the Rebels on the week. Firing home five birdies on the day and 11 on the week, Lignell settled into a tie for 23rd overall on the individual leaderboard.
Finishing tied for 53rd overall at nine-over on the week were both senior Julia Johnson and freshman Natacha Host Husted, as both golfers ended their tournaments with day two scores of 73 (+1). Both Johnson and Host Husted would finish with five birdies apiece on the week.
Closing out the tournament for the Rebels, redshirt-freshman McKinley Cunningham's three-day total of 227 (+11) earned her a share of 63rd place, with Cunningham sinking seven birdies on the week.
Claiming the ICON Invitational team title was USC, as the Trojans finished with a three-round score of 825 (-39) on the week.
The Rebels are set to return to the course for the Gators Invitational in Gainesville, Florida, at the Mark Bostick Golf Course, March 5-6.
