Lillian Gabrielsen Wins in Both Singles and Doubles Against Aggies

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 52 Ole Miss Women's Tennis (7-5, 1-3 SEC) fell 5-2 against SEC-leading No. 11 Texas A&M (18-1, 4-0 SEC) inside the William F. Galtney Tennis Center on Sunday.

Ole Miss won three total matches, one in doubles and two in singles, off of No. 11 ranked Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon. The match was delayed by thirty minutes and moved from outside to indoors due to unsafe playing conditions (Palmer/Salloum courts covered in ice).

The Rebels put up a good fight against the Aggies, starting the match with a highly-contested doubles portion. Ole Miss went ahead 1-0 in doubles by taking Court No. 3, 6-4. Lillian Gabrielsen and Ludiila Kareisová improved to 4-0 in SEC play and have won their last five matches paired together. Texas A&M came back to win doubles by a score of 7-5 at both the No. 1 and No. 2 positions. The Aggies' top doubles team of Tatiana Makarova and Jayci Goldsmith rank No. 3 in the nation, and their No. 2 team of Carson Branstine rank No. 27.

The Aggies won the first three singles matches to conclude, to clinch the victory. Texas A&M won at No. 2 and No. 4 Singles in straight sets. Kareisová fell to No. 80 Stoiana in three sets despite winning the first set.

Rachel Krzyzak put the Rebels on the board by defeating Gianna Pielet in straight sets, 6-4, 7-6 (2). Krzyzak improved to 11-8 overall and 6-3 in duals this year and won both her matches over the weekend in straight sets.

The Aggie's No. 41 Branstine earned a three-set victory against No. 79 Sabina Machalova to extend the Texas A&M lead back to four, 5-1.

Gabrielsen ended the match on a positive note for the Rebels, taking down Mireles 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 at No. 6 Singles to result in a 5-2 final in favor of Texas A&M.

Up Next: The Rebels will compete in a second straight homestand nest weekend, hosting Alabama on Friday March 18 at 3 p.m. CT and Auburn on Sunday March 20 at 1 p.m. CT.
