No. 22 Women’s Golf Prepares for Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic in Georgia

Rebels Return to UGA Golf Course for Three-Day Battle Against Multiple Ranked Opponents
ATHENS, Ga. – The Ole Miss women's golf team will travel to Athens, Georgia to take part in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, March 25-27, at the UGA Golf Course.
A total of 11 teams ranked within Golfstat's Top 50 will be in attendance in Athens, including the No. 22 ranked Rebels.

Natacha Host Husted (Fr.)

-- Logged a new career-low round of 67 (-3) at the Gators Invitational, where she would finish tied for 26th

THE COURSE |
Playing at 6,327 total yards as a par 72, the University of Georgia Golf Course opened in 1968 with the purpose of supporting the university community and a collegiate golf program. Over its history, the UGA Golf Course hosted a number of different collegiate tournaments including the annual Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, the Men's and Women's SEC Championships, Men's and Women's NCAA Regionals, as well as the women's collegiate national championships on five occasions - the 1971 Division of Girls' and Women's Sports (DGWS) Intercollegiate Championships, the 1981 Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW) Championships and the 1983, 1993 and 2013 NCAA Championships.
OLE MISS MOVES UP TO NO. 22 IN GOLFSTAT RANKINGS |
The Rebels have jumped up following the team's first team win of the year in the latest Golfstat NCAA Team Rankings, coming in as the No. 22 team in the nation. Ole Miss also ranks in the Golfweek/Sagarin Top 25, with the Rebels sitting in the No. 19 slot heading into the team's trip to Athens. The Rebels have now remained in the Golfweek/Sagarin Top 25 for the entirety of the 2021-22 campaign.

Once again leading the way for the Rebels in the latest individual polls is Chiara Tamburlini, who has risen to No. 22 in the nation in Golfstat's Individual Rankings while ranking No. 32 in Golfweek/Sagarin's Individual Rankings. Not far behind Tamburlini sits Andrea Lignell, who has also climbed her way up in the latest rankings, sitting No. 65 according to Golfweek/Sagarin and No. 81 according to Golfstat.
REBELS CO-CHAMPIONS AT VALSPAR AUGUSTA INVITATIONAL |
For the first time of the 2021-22 season, the Rebels came away with their first team title of the year by claiming a share of the 2022 Valspar Augusta Invitational March 12-13. Finishing with a two-day team score of 590 (+14) in the weather-shortened tournament, Ole Miss ended the Augusta Invite with a total of four golfers finishing in the top 20, including three that would finish in the top 10. This marked the first team title for the Rebels since capturing the Gators Invitational crown on February 23, 2021, where the team also took home co-champion honors after tying host Florida with a three-day team score of 856 (+16) on the week.

Coming off of yet another top 5 finish for the Rebels at the Valspar Augusta Invitational, Chiara Tamburlini's 2021-22 season continues to be a breakout one for the junior from St. Gallen, Switzerland. Tamburlini has now earned three top 5 finishes on the year, leading the Rebels alongside fellow junior Andrea Lignell, while also ending in the top 20 of all eight of her tournament appearances. Tamburlini's season stroke average of 72.65 also leads the team.
