Lignell Bounces Back to Earn Seventh Top 20 Finish of the Season

ATHENS, Ga. – The Ole Miss women's golf team wrapped up play at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic with a three-day score of 922 (+58) and finished tied for 11th overall.

The Rebels ranked second in the field in par-5 scoring (-1), while also finishing fifth in par-4 scoring (+29) on the weekend. Ole Miss' time in Athens ended with the team sinking a total of 30 birdies as a team.

"I thought the team fought hard this week," head coach Kory Henkes said. "The conditions were tough and we were down a player due to injury, so every shot counted."

"It wasn't the outcome we had hoped for, but they did their best with the adversity that was thrown at them. We look forward to a couple weeks of practice and recovery time before the SEC Championships."

Continuing to bounce back from a 78 (+6) in Friday's opening round, junior Andrea Lignell logged back-to-back rounds of 73 (+1) on Saturday and Sunday to snag her seventh top 20 finish of the season, finishing tied for 16th. Lignell led the Rebels in total birdies on the weekend with 11, while also leading the team in par-4 scoring (E).

Finishing just outside of the top 20 was freshman Natacha Host Husted, who capped off her tournament by carding a 78 (+6) on the day to settle into a tie for 23rd overall. Host Husted's tournament ended with her tallying eight birdies over her three rounds of play, as she led the team in par-3 scoring at 4-over in the category.

Senior Julia Johnson logged her best round of the tournament on Sunday, finishing with a 74 (+2) to move into 48th individually. Johnson's tournament ended with her ranked fourth in the field in par-5 scoring (-3).

Ellen Hutchinson-Kay wrapped up the Rebels' lineup by logging an 80 (+8) in her final round of play, finishing tied for 67th. Chiara Tambrulini was not available for the Rebels this weekend, as the junior withdrew from the competition prior to Friday's opening round due to a wrist injury, leaving Ole Miss with just four counting scores.

South Carolina ultimately claimed the team title at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic, with the Gamecocks ending the tournament with a three-day team score of 874 (+10).

The Rebels will now close out their regular season with the Auburn Individual, which is set to run April 4-5 at the Saugahatchee Golf Course, before traveling to Birmingham, Alabama for the SEC Championships.
