Tamburlini Opens Up 2022 NCAA Women’s Golf Championship in Scottsdale

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – Ole Miss women's golfer Chiara Tamburlini wrapped up her opening round of the NCAA Championship on Friday by carding a 74 (+2) on the day, putting her tied for 27th place after the first day in Scottsdale, Arizona.

A solid performance, that included going 1-under in her front nine, helps Tamburlini sit directly on the cut line for round four, which currently sits at 2-over.

Following the third round of stroke play on Sunday, the field will be cut down to the top 15 teams and top nine individuals not on an advancing team for Monday.

Round one concluded with Tamburlini earning par-or-better on 15 of her 18 holes, connecting on two birdies in the process. She also ends day one with the third-best par-4 scoring (+1) mark of all golfers in attendance at Grayhawk Golf Club.

Tamburlini's day started with the junior teeing off of No. 10 at Grayhawk, and she wasted no time getting acclimated to the course with Tamburlini sinking her first birdie of the weekend on No. 12, a par 4. After notching a bogey three holes later, Tamburlini earned yet another birdie on her front, sinking a short putt on No. 18 to finish her front nine 1-under par and up into the mix at the top of the individual leaderboard.

The second half of Tamburlini's round saw the St. Gallen, Switzerland, native connecting on par for seven of the nine holes, while also taking a bogey and double bogey to finish the side 3-over par and end the round at 2-over.

Tamburlini will now flip to the morning session for her second round of action in Scottsdale, with the junior set to tee off of No. 1 at 10:20 a.m. CT.
