Men’s Tennis No. 1 Singles and Doubles Headed to NCAA Individual Championships on May 23

Slavic Receives No. 9-16 Seed, Engelhardt and Reynolds Voted in for Doubles
INDIANAPOLIS – Ole Miss Men's Tennis places both its No. 1 Singles player, Nikola Slavic, and No. 1 Doubles team, Lukas Engelhardt and Finn Reynolds into the 2022 NCAA Individual Championships draws. The NCAA Men's Tennis Singles and Doubles Championships this season will be held in Champaign-Urbana, Illinois starting on May 23.
For the second consecutive season, Ole Miss placed at least one singles player and one doubles team in the NCAA Individual Championships as well as qualifying for the NCAA Team Championships. The Rebels received the No. 2 seed in the Fort Worth Regional beginning May 6 as announced by the NCAA Monday evening. Ole Miss faces Utah on Friday at 11 a.m. CT.
Nikola Slavic earned his second career placement into the NCAA Singles Championships this year. Slavic was voted into the event at-large after ranking No. 17 in the nation in singles up to this point this season. He received a No. 9 to 16 overall seed in the draw (draw placement to be determined when final competition list is solidified prior to May 23). The Rebels' No. 1 Singles player also competed in the NCAA Singles Championships in 2021, reaching the Round of 64.
Slavic led all Rebels in singles victories this season with 22, earning an overall record of 22-12. He also paced Ole Miss in dual competitions, compiling a 15-9 record. He earned nine victories versus ITA ranked opponents, five more than any other Rebel.
Battle tested, Slavic claimed the individual title in the ITA Southern Singles Championships in Fall 2021. He also reached the round of 32 of the ITA All-American Championships.
Finn Reynolds and Lukas Engelhardt earned an at-large selection for the 2022 NCAA Doubles Championship. The two Rebels received the No. 25 ITA Ranking in the most recent poll last Wednesday. Reynolds and Engelhardt reached as-high-as No. 2 in the national doubles ranking this season. Reynolds returns to compete in his second consecutive NCAA national doubles tournament as Engelhardt received his first career invitation to the capstone event of the spring tennis season.
Reynolds and Engelhardt competed as a pair solely at the No. 1 Doubles position for Ole Miss in 2021. No other pairing played No. 1 Doubles for the Rebels this season. Reynolds and Engelhardt earned a 12-10 overall record in 22 match decisions and compiled a 2-4 record versus ITA nationally-ranked opponents.
The NCAA Individual Championships are set to begin on May 23 and conclude on May 28 following the conclusion of the NCAA Team Championships. The full 2022 NCAA Men's Tennis Individual Championships Brackets will be announced at a later date prior to competition.
