Rebels Sign All-American Slugger
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss head softball coach Jamie Trachsel announced the addition of Marshall transfer and 2022 NFCA All-American Mya Stevenson on Friday.
Making her way to Oxford as a graduate transfer, Stevenson wrapped up her career at Marshall as one of the program's top sluggers. A three-time All-Conference USA Player out of Mesquite, Texas, Stevenson brings veteran leadership and power to Ole Miss.
"I loved Oxford, the coaches and the environment," said Stevenson. "I wanted to find a place that felt like home again and accept me, and I felt like this is the place for me. I'm so excited to get to work and be a Rebel. Hotty Toddy!"
This past season, she earned NFCA Third Team All-America status after batting .361 with 56 hits, 41 runs scored and 55 RBIs. Stevenson also became Marshall's all-time home run leader with 59 career bombs after mashing 19 in 2022.
The Lone Star product ranks second all-time in slugging percentage (.771) and fourth in runs batted in with 169 while tallying 171 hits in her four years with the Herd. Stevenson ended the season ranked tied for eighth among active career home run hitters, 16th in career slugging percentage, and 30th in RBI.
Stevenson burst onto the scene as a freshman in 2019, garnering NFCA Mideast All-Region Third Team honors. She was also named to the All-Conference USA First Team after leading all freshmen nationally with 20 home runs.
The following season she led the NCAA with 12 home runs through the first 25 games before the 2020 season was cancelled. The following year she was one of two players to appear in all 33 games in an abbreviated season. She finished with a .293 average, 29 hits and a team-high 27 runs.
A MaxPreps All-American and NFCA Second Team All-Region at Mesquite Poteet High School, Stevenson set school career records for strikeouts (737) and home runs (36) and was named to the Texas All-State team by the Texas Sports Writers Association team.
