Rebels Add Depth in the Circle with Kliethermes
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss head softball coach Jamie Trachsel announced the addition of Oregon transfer Makenna Kliethermes, adding a big-time arm to the circle.
Kliethermes graduated in May from Oregon and joins the Rebels pitching staff with two years of eligibility remaining. This past season, Kliethermes handled the bulk of the work on the Oregon staff, making 32 appearances, including 16 starts. The Wardsville, Missouri, native tallied an 11-7 record and 3.65 ERA in 117.0 innings of work. She finished the season with five complete-game efforts, including a one-hit shutout of the Rebels back in February.
"I am so excited to start the next chapter of my education and softball journey at Ole Miss," said Kliethermes. "The softball coaching staff is amazing, and I can't wait to play with my teammates! The atmosphere of Ole Miss is electric, welcoming and made me feel at home."
In her first full season with the Ducks in 2021, the righty appeared in 22 games, making eight starts. She posted a 7-6 record and 3.45 ERA to go along with 88 strikeouts in 67.0 innings pitched. Kliethermes also garnered Pac-12 Pitcher and Freshman of the Week honors on March 28 after throwing her first career no-hitter in a 15-strikeout effort.
Kliethermes' 2020 campaign was cut short due to the pandemic, although she did make five appearances, including one start, going 6.2 innings with a 1.05 ERA. In her collegiate debut, she struck out all five batters faced.
An NFCA All-American and Missouri Gatorade Player of the year out of Blair Oaks High School, Kliethermes was ranked as the No. 28 recruit in the class of 2019 by FloSoftball. In her senior season, she went 21-2 with a 0.57 ERA and 300 strikeouts in 134.1 innings pitched and fired an incredible seven no-hitters.
