Postgame Quotes vs. Central Arkansas

Ole Miss 59, UCA 3
OLE MISS HEAD COACH LANE KIFFIN |
"Good win, much better feeling than a week ago. I think as a team, as a coach, that you like to finish well… It was really cool to see a lot of people play and make plays like an interception, the backups score there at the end. I thought it was neat because, a lot of those guys work hard and don't get a chance to play. I commend our fans that stayed and the student section, the group that stayed, that was pretty cool. It was a long game, especially whenever they started calling all the holding penalties. Good win, not perfect, but anytime you win 59-3 or something there's a lot of good things in there."
On the quarterback situation:
"We'll have to go watch the film. I felt bad for Luke (Altmyer) because he was injured and he's so competitive that he stayed in, even when we asked him (how he was feeling). You could see on the interception, obviously there was an issue there. We'll go back and look at the film and see what we think."
On the special teams effort:
"It was great to see. I didn't think we played well in week one, didn't think we played with the energy and effort that we wanted to. They really responded and it was great to see. When you have new quarterbacks, when you lose a great quarterback like we have, everybody has got to play well all around. That's not just offensive players, that's defense and special teams. It's gonna be harder as we go on the road. We need to be able to run the ball, play defense, and play special teams."
On defensive improvement:
"I thought they played really well again. Our guys have played really physical, aggressive and downhill. They haven't really been tested too, but our staff here and the rat poison says we're the longest defense in the country with less than 21 points given up. Seven straight games or something, I don't really like telling that.
OLE MISS QUARTERBACK JAXSON DART |
"It's definitely not easy especially when you have no idea who you're going to be coming in. There are definitely times where it's hard to try to stay focused as much as you can. For me, I just want to give a huge shout out to my teammates and their support and all of that stuff. Our comradery is just getting stronger and stronger. Everybody is just growing together and I think today was a big step for us and it just shows that we look after each other. Of course, there are times where people are just going through different situations and we have each other's backs. For me though, I just have to be prepared for every single play. You never know what is going to happen, you never know when your number is going to be called."
On deep shots today:
"I think it was just because of the defense they gave us this week. Last week, you know they kept a lot in front of them. We didn't have a lot of opportunities to get behind them or get a big play. This week we did have those opportunities. For me, I just had to trust the guys that were out there and I wanted to give them a shot. Any time I can give them some one on one or just opportunities like that for a big play and tonight they showed their ability to make plays."
OLE MISS SAFETY LADARIUS TENNISON |
"I feel like I adapted well, I just learned the scheme of the defense and you know a lot of people play different positions so you just gotta learn a lot of different things, so I feel like I've adapted pretty good."
UCA HEAD COACH NATHAN BROWN |
"We knew it was an uphill battle coming in here tonight against an obviously great program and what they have accomplished over the last few years with Coach Kiffin. But, we let it snowball on us early. That hurt us, especially the two punt blunders, snapping over the head and the blocked punt that came after it, applied the pressure. Our timing should've took care of it, but it just didn't. It put us behind the eight-ball early. We couldn't get any momentum... that didn't help. I thought we were able to run the ball a little bit early on and move the chains a little bit on the first couple drives. We just couldn't stand nothing. We knew going in that the defense they are playing with over there is really good. I mean I can't wait to watch them for the rest of the year because I think that much of them. They got some real good replacements with the transfer portal with some impact guys and they showed up. They're big. I think on the offense and defensive lines they leaned on us a little bit as the game went on, but if you come in this environment you can't give them gimmes and that's what we did. We gave them some gimmes early on, and we couldn't seize any type of momentum to get us going throughout that first half.
"Really in the second half it was about how you're really not going to come back from 31-down, but really fight to get something positive out of it. The third quarter wasn't great, but the fourth was okay. We did some good things in the fourth quarter. It's really about turning the page and brushing ourselves off and getting ready for this last 10 week stretch, and I think we got a chance to play with anyone we play with from here on out. This team hasn't had the opportunity to get the fruits of their labor yet or be rewarded. I believe it's coming soon, I think we are a good football team, I do. We haven't proven it yet, but as far as the FCS goes I don't think anyone has played a tougher schedule than we have, week-one and week-two."
