Soccer Plays to Scoreless Draw With No. 15 South Carolina

Rebels Earn First Road Point In Hard-Fought Match
COLUMBIA, S.C. – Ole Miss (6-5-3, 2-3-2 SEC) and No. 15 South Carolina (9-1-5, 3-0-4 SEC) played to a scoreless draw Friday night in Columbia, each earning a point in the SEC standings.
The Rebels now have eight points in the SEC standings with just three matches left to play in the regular season.
Shu Ohba picked up her sixth shutout of the season, making six saves on 12 shots faced in the match. Aubrey Mister led the Rebels in shots with three on the night as Ole Miss was able to put five of their 12 total shots on goal.
The Rebels came out hungry in the first half, outshooting the Gamecocks 7-5, placing three of their shots on goal. Ole Miss possessed the ball for much of the opening half and their best chance came just as the half wound down. Just like she did a week prior against Missouri, Aubrey Mister took a strike from about 25 yards out, but this time it went off the crossbar with less than 30 seconds left to play.
The teams would go into the halftime break locked in a scoreless tie.
Ole Miss kept the pressure turned up in the second half, taking the first five shots of the period. In about the 74th minute of play the momentum shifted in favor of South Carolina as they rattled off five shots in five minutes. The Rebel defense stood tall and kept the potent offense of the Gamecocks off the board.
The Rebels will return to Oxford and host reigning SEC Regular Season Champions Alabama on Thursday night.
