Three Rebels Finish Inside Top-10

BILOXI, Miss. – The Ole Miss men's golf team wrapped its fall season with a 288 (E) final round at the Fallen Oak golf course to finish in 2nd place.

The 2nd place finish earned the Rebels their third straight top-5 finish, giving Ole Miss its best start to a season since 2021. Overall, Ole Miss shot 862 (-2) with three Rebels inside the top-10, making it one of two schools out of the 12-team field to go under-par through 54 holes. Ole Miss made 46 birdies and three eagles during its time in Biloxi.

"It certainly wasn't our best stuff this week, but we learned a lot" head coach Chris Malloy said. "We've got to be a little bit tougher in the middle parts of our round. Really, the thing that held us back from winning was silly mistakes. It was a lot of three-putts. A lot of not getting the ball up and down, but this course will do that to you. It's challenging with the green complexes. But again, I'm proud of the fight that our guys have shown all fall long. They finished second in a really good field without their best stuff."

Michael La Sasso became the Rebels' top individual for his third consecutive appearance in the Red and Blue. La Sasso struggled in the final round at Fallen Oak, shooting 74 (+2), but was still able to earn a tied for 3rd finish at 6-under overall – his second top-5 finish of the season and third of his career.

Patton Samuels, competing individually for the Rebels, hit the ground running on his final day on the coast, going bogey-free for 16 of 18 holes. Samuels carded three birdies and eagle to secure his best round of the tournament at 69 (-3). The sophomore additionally earned a career-best finish tied for 5th at 5-under – his first top-5 finish of his career.

Cameron Tankersley played steady golf, concluding the day at 72 (E). Tankersley secured a bogey-free back nine to give him a 10th place finish at 2-under overall. This marks the sophomore's first top-10 finish of the season and fourth in his career.

Tom Fischer put in his best round of the tournament, ending the day at 70 (-2). Fischer made five birdies including a pair back-to-back. Fischer ended tied for 23rd at 4-over overall.

Kye Meeks and Tim Tillmanns both finished tied for 32nd at 7-over. Meeks went even for the day, highlighted by a trio of back-to-back birdies on Holes 13-15.

Ole Miss will go into its off-season after its three-tournament fall slate. The Rebels will pick back up in the spring at the Puerto Rico Classic (Feb. 11-13) in San Juan, Puerto Rico at the Grand Reserve Golf Club.

"Now is the time of the year that you start to get better," Malloy stated. "We've got to regroup. We've got to rest. It's kind of a tired group of guys, and it gets that way at the end of a fall or even a spring season. We'll get back and get some rest and then dive into stats and figure out where can improve the most and be a better version of ourselves when we come out in the spring."
