Women’s Basketball Signs Sira Thienou for 2024-25

OXFORD, Miss. – Women's basketball head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin continues to build for what's next, announcing the addition of Sira Thienou from Mali for the 2024-25 campaign on Friday.
 
"Sira is a dynamic guard that will impact us immediately! She is a three-level scorer and has the perfect length for our defensive system," said McPhee-McCuin. "Sira too adds to international recruiting and since she's been with her high school coaches here in the United States her game has flourished! I expect Sira to have a phenomenal career here at Ole Miss!"
 
McPhee-McCuin's recruiting reach continues to cross oceans, adding Thienou who hails from Bamako, Mali. This past summer, Thienou represented her home country at the 2023 FIBA U19 Women's Basketball World Cup in Spain. Throughout the tournament, she averaged 15.4 points, along with 5.7 rebounds per contest.
