11/16/2023 | Rifle
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss rifle went 4-3 overall and 1-2 in conference matches during the fall schedule. The Rebels ranked as the third-best team in the nation and competed against two top-five opponents.
The Rebels also are one of three programs to fire a 4730 or higher with No. 1 West Virginia and No. 2 TCU. Ole Miss averages an aggregate score of 4717.9 in seven matches, the fourth highest in the nation. The team sits in third for NCAA Championships selection with a score of 4724.67.
In the Record Books
The 2023-24 Ole Miss rifle team and the players individually added to the program records. As a team, the Rebels inserted their names into the top-10 for air rifle match score and twice into the top-five smallbore score. Individually, three players broke personal best in smallbore, four in air rifle, and three in aggregate.
Emma Pereira wasted no time breaking her career air rifle mark in the first match of the season. The sophomore had previously shot a 594 three times in her freshman campaign. In the match against Jacksonville State, Pereira fired a 595 to begin her season with a bang. Regan Diamond also showed up for her first collegiate match, shooting a 593, then hitting a 595 two matches later against No. 1 West Virginia.

At the start of air rifle, the sophomore cruised through her first ten shots, then missed one 10 in each of the final four sets of 10 on her way to 594. Hays ended with an 1186, three more than her previous personal record.
