Golf Program Among Nation’s Best

OXFORD, Miss. – Establishing itself as one of the premier combined golf programs in the country, Ole Miss is currently one of two schools nationally to have both its men's and women's teams ranked inside the top 10 of the NCAA Clippd rankings.
Released on Wednesday, November 15, the NCAA boasted both Rebel programs inside the top 10 with men at No. 5 and women at No. 9 in the nation. Additionally, both teams had two individuals ranked inside the top 100 with Michael La Sasso (No. 8), Caitlyn Macnab (No. 11), Justine Fournand (No. 70) and Cameron Tankersley (No. 74) all earning individual accolades.
Ole Miss men's golf earned its top-5 ranking after its successful fall season, shooting 50-under through its three tournament appearances. Earning a preseason ranking of No. 24 from The Golf Coaches Association of America, Ole Miss has climbed in the rankings, boasting a 32-6-0 record.
Ole Miss has finished in the top-5 in all three fall tournaments, including two 2nd place finishes. The Rebels additionally wrote their names in the record book, shooting a 262-round score which marks as the lowest-single round total in program history.
"This speaks volumes to the culture that we have built here with Ole Miss Golf," said men's golf head coach Chris Malloy. "Winning is contagious and this is proof of that. With the job Kory has done with our women's team, why wouldn't I want my guys to be a part of that?"
The Ole Miss women's golf team come off a stellar fall with three top-two finishes and four top-five finishes, including the Cougar Classic title where they crushed the program record for lowest tournament three-round team score at 816 (-36).
In Ole Miss' four fall tournaments, the Rebels registered a 54-6-0 record which ranks as the second-best in the nation. Additionally, Ole Miss leads the SEC with a team stroke average of 280.17 and an individual stroke average of 70.04.
"I'm proud of both our men's and women's team for our accomplishments this fall," said women's golf head coach Kory Henkes. "To have both of our programs ranked in the top 10 is a testament to the culture we have built at Ole Miss Golf. We really work well together and everyone pulls for each other to be their best. We look forward to a great spring for both programs as well."
Both Ole Miss squads will kick off their respective spring seasons at the Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico with the women's tournament taking place Feb. 4-6 and the men's tournament set for Feb. 11-13 at the Grand Reserve Golf Club.
