Men’s Golf Signs Two New Rebels for 2024 Roster

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss men's golf head coach Chris Malloy is proud to announce Jacob Blanton and Davis Gochenouer as the newest members of the Rebel golf family. Both golfers signed their National Letters of Intent on Wednesday making their commitment to Ole Miss official.
"Today is a huge day for our program," head coach Chris Malloy said. "To be able to add two players of this caliber is extremely exciting to all of us. They are both great additions to our family here."
Staying in the 'Sip is Blanton, a West Point, Mississippi, native. Blanton joins the Rebels as the No. 1 recruit out of the state of Mississippi based on Junior Golf Scoreboard and is coming to Oxford with a 68.3 stroke average.
Blanton is reuniting with current Ole Miss Rebel Collins Trolio, where the two were former high school teammates at Oak Hill Academy. The two have turned Oak Hill Academy into a complete powerhouse of golf where the school has won seven straight state championship titles. Blanton has contributed to the last five from 2019-2023.
"I've always wanted to play golf under Coach Malloy," said Blanton. "I have played a lot of junior golf with the guys on the team so I felt like I would get a lot better with my game and have fun guys around me."
A native of Dayton, Ohio, where he attends Archbishop Alter High School, Gochenouer comes to Ole Miss as the No. 3 recruit out of the state of Ohio based on Junior Golf Scoreboard.
Gochenouer currently ranks as No. 65 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings with six AJGA events underneath his belt. Out of the six tournaments, Gochenouer placed inside the top-25 in five of them, including winning the Circle K Junior Championship with a 209 (69-69-71) overall score. This marked Gochenouer's third National Junior win of 2023 and the first on AJGA.
"I chose Ole Miss because I wanted to be a part of one of the best golf programs in the country," stated Gochenouer.
The two new standouts will make their way to Oxford and begin competition for the Rebels in August of 2024.
