Dyess and Niesen Earn CSC Academic All-District Team Honors

OXFORD, Miss. – Following a successful season on the court and in the classroom, Ole Miss volleyball's Julia Dyess and Cammy Niesen were named to the College Sports Communicators 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Team Tuesday.
The 2023 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. In order to qualify, student-athletes must have at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) while also participating in at least 90 percent or starting in at least 66 percent of the team's games.
Dyess, a junior Exercise Science major, appeared in all 29 matches for the Rebels, including 21 starts. She led Ole Miss in SEC play, tallying 176 total kills, nearly 3.00 per set. The Brandon, Mississippi, native recorded her best statistical season of her career while representing her home state. Dyess posted double-digit kills nine times, including a career-high 22 to help the Rebels top LSU in a five-set thriller.
Niesen, a sophomore chemical engineering major, was the only Rebel to start and appear in all 111 sets this season. Playing in the libero position, she ranked second in the SEC with 448 digs and averaged the third-best mark with 4.04 digs per set. An elite defender, Niesen helped Ole Miss rank third in the conference in digs per set and fifth in opponent hitting percentage. She also posted a 34-dig match against Tulsa, the most by a Rebel since 2010, helping Ole Miss break a single match program record for digs with 113.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced on January 9.
