Ole Miss Men’s Hoops One of Four Remaining Undefeated Teams

OXFORD, Miss. – Three of college basketball's final seven undefeated teams fell over the weekend, but Chris Beard and the Ole Miss men's basketball team remained perfect, topping Cal 88-78 to move to 10-0 on the season.
No. 25 Ole Miss was hot offensively, shooting 52.5 percent from the floor en route to a season-high 88 points. Jaemyn Brakefield led the way with a career-high 27, Matthew Murrell was next with 19, and Jaylen Murray (14), Allen Flanigan (12) and TJ Caldwell (11) joined them in double figures. Also of note: Georgetown transfer Brandon Murray hit a 3-pointer and chipped in four assists in his Rebel debut.
No. 4 Houston nearly found itself off the list as well when Texas A&M erased the Cougars' 21-point second-half lead to tie the game in the final two minutes, but the Aggies couldn't pull off the upset in a 70-66 final. Meanwhile, No. 11 Oklahoma took care of business against Green Bay, and No. 20 James Madison did the same at Hampton, leaving four unbeatens remaining.
Ole Miss will put its perfect record on the line Tuesday night at the SJB Pavilion against Troy, one of two home non-conference games remaining. Tipoff is set for 6 p.m. CT. Tickets are still available at OleMissTix.com.
Single-game tickets for SEC games are on sale now through the Ole Miss ticket office. The Rebels open their home conference slate on Jan. 10 vs. Florida.

While Ole Miss took care of business, a few other unbeatens didn't. No. 6 Baylor fell the hardest, an 88-64 blowout loss to Michigan State. No. 13 Clemson failed where the Rebels succeeded, falling 79-77 to Memphis. No. 1 Arizona couldn't keep pace with No. 3 Purdue, dropping a 92-84 track meet.Win #10 ✅
