OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 11 Ole Miss football team is New Year's Six bowl bound after earning a berth to represent the SEC in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl on Dec. 30 in Atlanta against No. 10 Penn State out of the Big Ten Conference.
The Rebels and Nittany Lions will meet on the football field for the first time in the history of the two storied programs.
Ole Miss is 2-1 in its bowl history against current Big Ten teams. The Rebels lost 35-3 to Michigan in the 1991 Gator Bowl, beat Nebraska (then with the Big 12) 27-23 in the 2002 Independence Bowl and most recently topped No. 7 Indiana 26-20 in the 2020 Outback Bowl, the first year under head coach Lane Kiffin.
"We couldn't be more excited to be part of this unbelievable matchup and play a great university and program like Penn State and Coach Franklin and all the success that he's had there and the great players and be close to home for us to where a lot of our fans will go to a great stadium and view a great matchup," Kiffin said.
Including the regular season, Ole Miss is 3-4 all-time against current Big Ten members, adding a 1-1 record against Maryland and 0-1 records against Minnesota and Purdue.
