Zadori Excels as Rebels Move to 6-0 at Home
OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss women's tennis showed no mercy, sweeping Tennessee State twice in Saturday's doubleheader. The Rebels took the first match, 7-0, and the second match 4-0.
Ole Miss (6-2) not only swept both matches, the team didn't give up a set. Reka Zadori added to her team-leading singles win total with two more along with two doubles wins. The Hungary native also won every game point. Emma Kette extended her singles win streak to six while also adding two doubles wins with Zadori as her partner.
The Rebels have clinched the doubles point in every home match and that continued on Saturday, taking both doubles points. In the first match, Kette and Zadori rolled through their opponent with a 6-0 at No. 3 doubles to start the day. At No. 2 doubles, Lillian Gabrielsen and Kelsey Mize improved to 4-0 in dual matches together with a 6-2 win.
In singles play, Ole Miss won every set against Tennessee State (0-10). Zadori finished her 6-0, 6-0 win at the fourth position before some matches finished their opening set. Rachel Krzyzak rejoined the lineup and took home a 6-1, 6-0 win for her first dual singles win of the season. Kette moved up to the third spot and still did not drop a set in her 6-0, 6-1 to secure the Rebel win. The freshman is 6-0 in dual singles matches.
Ludmila Kareisova earned her first win at the top of the lineup in her 6-1, 6-1 victory. Gabrielsen won 6-4, 6-2 and Mize won 6-3, 6-1 to finish the match.
The second match felt just as easy as the first even with a change in both the singles and doubles lineups. Kette and Zadori stayed together at No. 3 doubles and once again was the first to finish with a 6-1 win. The No. 2 doubles team would also clinch the doubles point again but this time it was Gabrielsen and Krzyzak with the 6-2 triumph. The win marks Krzyzak's first dual doubles win of the year.
Ole Miss got wins at the second, fourth and sixth singles positions. Zadori finished her stellar day with another 6-0, 6-0 sweep at No. 4 singles. Mize mimicked Zadori with her own 6-0, 6-0 feat at No. 6 singles. Finally to end the day, Anaelle Leclercq-Ficher took down her opponent, 6-1, 6-1. The rest of the Rebels won their sets and we either one or two game points away from securing more wins.
The Rebels begin conference play against Vanderbilt on Friday, March 3. The match will start at 3 p.m. CT.
