OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE NET
Vanderbilt
The Commodores have consistently stayed ranked in the top-25 since the season began. No. 18 Vanderbilt is 6-3 overall and 2-2 against ranked opponents. The team advanced to the ITA National Indoor Championships by defeating No. 3 NC State, 4-3 and recently took down No. 18 UCF, 4-1.

Vanderbilt's roster consists of seven returning players and two freshmen. The return of Anessa Lee and Celia-Belle Mohr has made the greatest impact. Lee went 23-15 in singles and 19-15 in doubles last season. The junior is already 20-5 in singles and 14-5 in doubles. After not playing at all her freshman year, Mohr has taken the No. 1 singles spot by storm. She is 18-9 overall in singles and 5-3 at the top spot. In doubles the sophomore is 18-3 with the help of being 10-1 with Lee as her partner.  The rest of the returners are also performing well.

Freshmen Sonya Macavei and Bridget Stammel came out the gate winning, Macavei had an excellent fall with an 11-3 singles record and 7-6 doubles record. However, she has yet to play in a dual match. Stammel is 21-6 in singles, playing mostly at the No. 3 singles position. She is also 11-10 in doubles.

Kentucky
No. 58 Kentucky are 5-3 to start the season, including matches against currently ranked opponents. The Wildcats lost 4-3 and 4-1 to No. 27 Illinois and No. 41 Penn State, however defeated No. 57 Purdue, 4-3. They were set to face No. 5 Michigan before it was canceled. As the team begins conference play, the Wildcats look to improve on last season's 0-13 SEC record.

Kentucky lost just three players from last season and two of them didn't appear in any matches. Senior Florentia Urrutia and junior Elizabeth Stevens have made the greatest impact. Urrutia is off to a hot start with her 6-2 singles record and 6-1 doubles record. Stevens played very little last season but is currently 5-3 in singles and 5-1 in doubles. Stevens and Urrutia have competed at either No. 1 or No. 2 singles.

The Wildcats added three players, two freshmen and a transfer. Makayla Mills transferred from Clemson as has compiled a 4-3 singles record and a 6-1 doubles record. Mills went 5-1 in doubles with Urrutia. Freshman Zoe Hammond started the season 5-0 before losing her last three singles matches. Hammond has a doubles record of 5-1 with sophomore Ellie Eades.

REKA IS RAKING
The junior from Hungary has been successful in both doubles and in multiple positions in singles this year. Zadori currently leads the team with 13 singles wins, going 6-1 in dual singles matches. She has played at three different positions at the bottom of the lineup and has seen success. On Saturday, Zadori earned her first two wins at the fourth spot in dominant fashion. She defeated two different opponents without giving up a game point, 6-0, 6-0.

In doubles, Zadori is tied for the team lead in wins with eight, tallying a 5-1 record with Kette all at No. 3 doubles.

KRZYZAK IS BACK
Rachel Krzyzak was cleared to play for Saturday's doubleheader against Tennessee State. The sophomore hasn't played since competing in the Michigan Spring Invitational back in January. The Rebels are excited to have her back after a excellent freshman year where she compiled a 13-6 dual singles record and a 10-10 dual doubles record.

In her first dual match, Krzyzak earned her first dual doubles and singles win. She played No. 6 singles in the first match and won 6-1, 6-0. Then she joined Gabrielsen for a 6-2 victory at No. 2 doubles in the second match of the afternoon.

CONFERENCE ACTION
As conference play begins for the women's tennis team, the Rebels look to improve in SEC matches. Ole Miss has compiled a 27-29 SEC record the last five seasons. The Rebels hope to start strong with matches against Vanderbilt and Kentucky on Friday and Saturday.

FRESHMAN SINGLES SUCCESS
The Rebels have seen dual singles success come from their first-year players the last three seasons. Two years ago, Reka Zadori came onto the scene, with the now junior going 9-4 from either the No. 5 or No. 6 position.

Last season was no different with three freshmen in Ludmial Kareisova, Rachel Krzyzak and Anaelle Leclercq-Ficher. Kareisova started 0-2 before going 10-8. Krzyzak and Leclercq-Ficher started 3-1 in their first four finished matches. Leclercq-Ficher at one point was 6-2 then ended 8-5. Krzyzak finished the year with a team-leading 13-6 dual singles record.

Now in 2023, Emma Kette is off to a 6-0 start and looks to continue the trend.

HOME COURT ADVANTAGE
Ole Miss women's tennis is 6-0 to start the season for the second straight year. The team was 9-3 at home during the 2021-22 season, with two losses against national top-12 teams. The Rebels have a chance to extend the streak the next two matches against conference opponents.

Also at home, Ole Miss has won all six doubles points. The Rebels have clinched the doubles point in the last seven home matches dating back to last season.

DYNAMIC DUOS
In the fall, the Rebels had success with 11 different doubles pairings. However, in dual match-es Ole Miss has stuck with the same three and they have excelled. The No. 2 doubles team of Gabrielsen and Mize went 2-3 in tournament play but are now 4-0 to start the dual season.

The No. 1 and No. 3 doubles team were never paired during the fall. Leclercq-Ficher and Kareisova competed with six different doubles partners, but together, they have dominated to a 5-1 record against team's top doubles pairings. Kette and Zadori have had the same success with a 5-1 record at No. 3 doubles.

CAN'T STOP KETTE
Emma Kette, who arrived this January, is undefeated in dual singles in the first eight matches of the season. She held down the No. 6 spot for her first three wins, and then handled the move to No. 5 against TCU swimmingly, winning in straight sets to remain unbeaten. Kette again moved up to No. 4 against Belmont, and won 6-2, 6-3.

Kette is not only 6-0, but she has yet to give up a set in her young dual singles career. She is the first Rebel freshman since Alexa Bortles in 2016-17 to start 6-0 in dual singles. The freshman is also 5-1 in doubles with Reka Zadori as her partner.
