Two-Day Tournament to Feature 12 Teams Currently Ranked in Golfstat’s Top 50 Rankings

GUADALAJARA, Mexico. – Ole Miss women's golf will be back in action for the annual Collegiate Invitational to open the team's spring schedule, which is set to run Feb. 5-6, at Guadalajara Country Club, in Guadalajara, Mexico.

Featuring two, 27-hole days of stroke play, the tournament features a field entirely made up of teams ranked within Golfstat's Top 50 NCAA Rankings with the Rebels leading the way as the No. 8 team in the country.

Andrea Lignell (Sr.*)
-- Leads the team with a stroke average of 69.50 in 2022-23
-- Currently ranks third in the SEC in stroke average this season
-- Captured her first two career medalist finishes for the Rebels in the fall at the Cougar Classic and The Ally
-- Shot a 204 (-9) at the Cougar Classic, marking a new career-low 54-hole score and tying her for the second-lowest 54-hole score in program history
-- Finished in the top 3 individually of every fall tournament for the Rebels in the fall
-- Received invitation to play in the 2023 Augusta National Women's Amateur

Chiara Tamburlini (Sr.*)

Ellen Hume (Sr.*)

-- Holds a season stroke average of 72.83 through three tournament appearances in 2022-23
-- Earned a third place finish at The Ally, shooting an even 216 on the week
-- Started season off with a 13th place finish at the Cougar Classic
-- Six career top 20 finishes for the Rebels since joining the team for the 2020-21 season
-- Co-Champion of the 2020 East Lake Cup after shooting a round of 69 (-3)
-- Finished the fall season with six of her 12 rounds being par or better, including having two rounds in the 60s

Elle Johnson (Sr.*)

-- Currently shooting a season stroke average of 73.89 in 2022-23
-- Made her Rebel debut at the Cougar Classic, finishing tied for 34th
-- Nearly cracked the top 20 at The Ally after competing as an individual, shooting a 227 to finish 27th
-- Left Florida State having the 19th-best career stroke average (75.61) in program history
-- 2022 Florida Women's Amateur Stroke Play Champion
-- Shot a course record round of 65 (-6) at Coral Creek Club in Placida, Florida to help claim the Florida Am title

Ellen Hutchinson-Kay
(Sr.)

-- Enters the spring season with a stroke average of 76.67 in 2022-23
-- Earned pair of top 20 finishes last year, including taking home a 13th place finish at the Auburn Individual
-- Carded a 71 in round two of the Cougar Classic, her best 18-hole score since the 2019-20 season
-- Competed at The Ally as an individual, where she finished 57th overall with a 243 on the week
-- 2021-22 SEC Community Service Team honoree
-- Two-time WGCA All-American Scholar (2020, 2019)

 THE COURSE

Designed by John Bredemus in 1942 and spanning 6,333 yards as a par 72, the lush parkland layout at the prestigious Guadalajara Country Club makes up part of an extensive private estate near the city center. It was the home course of former Arizona All-American and LPGA standout Lorena Ochoa,  whose family's home overlooked the club house. From 2008 to 2013 Guadalajara Country Club hosted the LPGA's Lorena Ochoa Invitational.  

 REBELS IN THE RANKINGS

The Rebels are set to enter their spring campaign ranked in the Top 20 of both the Golfstat and Golfweek/Sagarin NCAA Team Rankings, with Ole Miss coming in at No. 7 in the nation according to Golfweek and No. 8 in the country according to Golfstat. The team is led by Andrea Lignell, who sits ranked second and third in the nation by Golfstat and Golfweek, respectively. Fellow senior Chiara Tamburlini stands just narrowly behind Lignell to kick off the spring semester, as the St. Gallen, Switzerland, native stands ranked as the No. 18 and No. 23 golfer in the country by both outlets. Ellen Hume is the final Rebel to crack the Top 100 for both polls with Hume earning the No. 93 spot according to Golfweek and No. 99 position for Golfstat. Both Lignell and Tamburlini also enter the fall season ranked in the Top 10 of the Arnold Palmer Cup International Rankings, with Lignell leading the charge as the top international amateur golfer in the world according to the first installment of the rankings. Tamburlini sits further down on the list in the No. 10 position.  

 REBEL DUO NAMED TO THE ANNIKA AWARD FINAL FALL WATCH LIST

Andrea Lignell and Chiara Tamburlini found themselves amongst 20 of the nation's top collegiate women's golfers named to The ANNIKA Award Final Fall Watch List, presented by Stifel. The award is given annually to the most outstanding women's college golfer, as voted on by players, coaches and media. Both of the Rebel seniors have dominated the fall season for the Rebels, logging top 10 individual finishes in each of their tournament appearances this year for the team, including two tournament wins for Lignell. This marks the second time that two Rebels have found their way onto the award's final fall watch list, with the last time being in 2020 when Ellen Hume and Kennedy Swann both were tabbed on the list following their fall seasons.  

 LIGNELL, TAMBURLINI RECEIVE INVITES TO ANWA

The senior Rebel duo of Andrea Lignell and Chiara Tamburlini received invitations to the 2023 installment of the prestigious Augusta National Women's Amateur, marking the first time of either golfer's career that they've received an invitation to play at the ANWA. The tournament, taking place a week before The Masters, will feature 72 of the best women's amateur golfers in the world and will be held at the Champions Retreat Golf Club. Following the second round, the field will be cut to 30 with the final round to be played at Augusta National. Recent Rebel alumnus Julia Johnson also earned an invitation to the 2023 iteration of the tournament, marking the fourth consecutive Augusta National Women's Amateur that she's received an invitation to.
