OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE NET
Arkansas
The Razorbacks were 6-3 heading into conference play. However, the SEC has not been kind to Arkansas as the team is 0-4 in conference matches, playing No. 2 Texas A&M, No. 6 Georgia, No. 20 Tennessee, and No. 34 LSU. The roster of 10 has a good mix of upper and underclassmen with senior Kelly Keller leading the charge in singles with a 7-5 record at No 1 singles. Keller is also 7-4 in doubles mostly with No. 68 freshman Carolina Gomez-Alonso, who is 5-3 in singles and won SEC Freshman of the Week on March 1. Junior Morgan Cross has also helped in singles with a 6-3 record. Cross has excelled with fellow junior Indianna Spink, compiling an 8-2 record. The duo is currently ranked No. 23 in the nation. The Razorbacks as a whole are dominant in doubles with a overall doubles record of 20-11 record and clinching the doubles point in nine of their 13 matches, including against Georgia and Tennessee. Grace O'Donnell and Lenka Stara are also ranked as the 73rd best doubles pairing.
Missouri
The Tigers' nine wins came in the first ten matches with all of them being either 7-0 or 4-0 sweeps. However, Missouri has lost its last six matches for a 9-7 record and 0-4 SEC record. The team has won two singles matches during the losing streak and both occurred against No. 38 LSU. The Missouri roster has done almost a complete makeover with three freshman, two transfers and five no longer on the roster from last season. The two transfers from Division II Central Oklahoma were the No. 1 doubles team and were No. 3 and No. 8 in singles last year. They have played well despite the move up to Division I. Mae Canete immediately was placed at No. 1 singles and is 10-4 in dual singles on the season, including a win over No. 17 Kylie Collins. She is also 9-5 in dual doubles and 6-3 with her sister Inah Canete, who joined her in transferring to Missouri. Inah is 8-6 in dual singles and 8-5 overall in dual doubles. Gabriela Martinez, a returner, is 8-4 in dual singles and 9-4 in dual doubles.
REBS IN THE RANKINGS
Two individuals moved up in the latest ITA rankings and the team remained in the top-75. Ole Miss went from No. 58 to No. 66 in the ITA Team Rankings, announced on March 14, Kareisova became the first Rebel to be ranked in singles and doubles. After taking down now No. 65 Anna Ross, Kareisova moved up eight spots to No. 93. The sophomore is also ranked No. 59 in doubles with fellow sophomore Leclercq-Ficher. As a duo, they have compiled a 6-3 doubles record.
CONFERENCE ACTION
The Rebels have played four of the 13 conference matches. The squad will now stay on the road for two more matches against Arkansas and Missouri. At the end of March, Ole Miss returns to Oxford for two matches, hosting South Carolina and Florida. From there, the Rebels have a three-match road stretch, starting with Mississippi State. Then to start April, the team heads to College Station and Baton Rouge for contests against Texas A&M and LSU. The Rebels will finish the regular season at home, hosting Tennessee on April 14 and Georgia on April 16.
TAKE KARE-ISOVA
Lida Kareisova is on a singles tear, winning her last six singles matches. The win streak includes a 4-0 SEC singles record and a 2-0 ranked singles record. The sophomore's streak began with wins against Belmont and Tennessee State. Then, she took down No. 65 Anna Ross and Kentucky's Elizaebeth Stevens. Finally, Kareisova defeated No. 41 Carolyn Ansari and Alabama's Petra Sedlackova. Not only has she won all six matches, but won them in straight sets. Kareisova will likely play another ranked opponent in Arkansas' No. 68 Carolina Gomez-Alonso and Missouri's Emelie Schwarte.
LINEUP SHAKEUP
At the start of conference, the singles and doubles lineups changed with Rachel Krzyzak back. She was instantly inserted into the No. 6 singles position and has gone 3-1. Krzyzak moved into No. 3 doubles, joining Emma Kette. The sophomore earned her first SEC doubles win by a score of 6-3 in the most recent match against Alabama.
FRESHMAN SINGLES SUCCESS
The Rebels have seen dual singles success come from their first-year players the last three seasons. Two years ago, Reka Zadori came onto the scene, with the now junior going 9-4 from either the No. 5 or No. 6 position.
Last season was no different with three freshmen in Ludmila Kareisova, Rachel Krzyzak and Anaelle Leclercq-Ficher. Kareisova started 0-2 before going 10-8. Krzyzak and Leclercq-Ficher started 3-1 in their first four finished matches. Leclercq-Ficher at one point was 6-2 then ended 8-5. Krzyzak finished the year with a team-leading 13-6 dual singles record.
