Rebels Look to Rebound in Saturday’s Regular Season Finale Against UGA
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The No. 25 Ole Miss men's tennis team dropped their matchup with the No. 8 Tennessee Volunteers on Thursday, as the Rebels ultimately fell in their penultimate regular season matchup, 6-1.
The Rebels (16-7, 6-5 SEC) had a tall task awaiting them in Knoxville, as the Volunteers (19-6, 9-2) entered their matchup with Ole Miss riding a six-match win streak against some of the nation's top programs. Well-rounded singles play from the Vols proved to be the difference maker, with only one Rebel taking home a match win on the day.
The Rebels fell behind early in the match by dropping the doubles point, as Tennessee would grab 6-2 wins on Court 1 and Court 2 to jump ahead 1-0 on the Rebels. Struggles for the Rebels continued into singles play, with Tennessee clinching wins in five out of six singles matches on the day.
A silver lining for the Rebels came on Court 5 in the form of Noah Schlagenhauf, as the freshman battled his way to a 6-2 first set win before dropping the second 3-6. Moving to a third-set super tiebreaker, Schlagenhauf powered through a back and forth breaker to ultimately grab the set and the win for the Rebels.
The freshman has now won his 10th dual singles match of the season for the team, marking just the sixth Rebel freshman in the last 10 seasons to accomplish the feat.
Despite the win for Schlagenhauf, the Volunteers ultimately prevailed on their home courts with the final score reading 6-1 in favor of Tennessee.

The Rebels will look to rebound in the team's regular season finale on Saturday, as Ole Miss travels to Athens to take on No. 4 Georgia (17-5, 11-0 SEC). Match time for the April 15 fixture is currently set for 12 p.m. CT.
