Women’s Tennis Prepares For Second Round of SEC Championships

SERVICE LINE
- The Rebels swept Missouri, 4-0, in the first round of the SEC Championships. The team is now 2-0 against the Tigers in the SEC Tournament.
- Ole Miss has won two of the last four meetings against Auburn. In 2020-21, the Rebels went to Auburn and got the 4-0 sweep over the No. 18 Tigers.
- The team faced the Tigers in Auburn earlier in the year. Rebels were edged 4-3 after coming down to the last singles match.
- Ole Miss has three players with 15 or more singles wins. All three also have 10-plus dual sin-gles wins. Two others have 10 or more singles wins.
- The team also has four players with double-digit doubles victories.
- The No. 6 singles position has been stellar, with a 16-4 record. Zadori helped with her 8-3 No. 6 singles record.
- Kareisova keeps climbing the rankings, moving 12 more spots to No. 50.
- In conference, Kareisova's taken down four ranked opponents, including her first top-25 op-ponent in No. 21 Elza Tomase. She is 7-3 in singles matches.
- The winner of Thursday's matchup will face Florida for a chance at the SEC Semifinals.
Lillian Gabrielsen (Sr.) - Oslo, Norway
- Compiled an 18-13 overall singles record and a 14-12 overall doubles record
- She and Mize grabbed theirs, and the team's second ranked doubles victory over No. 83 Mae and Inah Canete
- Made the ITA Fall National Championships in singles as the South Region runner-up
- Reached the round of 16 in doubles at the ITA South Region Championships in 2021
Ludmila Kareisova (So.) - Liberec, Czechia
- Has a 16-10 singles record and 13-12 doubles record
- She is also 7-5 against ranked opponents in singles
- Kareisova moved to the No. 1 singles position (2-3 at No. 1)
- ITA South Region Championships doubles runner-up, which earned a spot in the ITA National in 2021
Emma Kette (Fr.) - Rammelsbach, Germany
- Has an 11-10 singles record and a 10-8 doubles record
- First Rebel freshman since Alexa Bortles in 2016-17 to start her dual career 6-0
- Joined the squad this January
Rachel Krzyzak (So.) - Milton, Ontario, Canada
- Joined Leclercq-Ficher at No. 2 doubles for the last five matches. The first win against Tennessee was on Friday.
- Earned her first conference doubles win against Auburn with Emma Kette
- Compiled an 18-11 singles record and 15-15 doubles record during the 2021-22 season
Anaelle Leclercq-Ficher (So.) - La Perche, France
- Has a 9-13 doubles record
- Reached doubles quarterfinals of ITA South Region Championships in 2021
- Voted SEC Freshman of the Year on March 2, 2021
Kelsey Mize (Sr.*) - Tulsa, Okla.
- Has 11-9 singles and 14-12 doubles record
- She and Lillian Gabrielsen are 10-6 in dual matches together. Gabrielsen moved to No. 1 doubles for the last five matches.
- ITA South Region Championships doubles runner-up in 2021, advanced to ITA Fall Nationals
Reka Zadori (Jr.) - Szeged, Hungary
- Has a 21-13 singles record and a 9-10 doubles record. Leads team in singles wins
- Made it to the singles quarterfinals of the ITA South Region Championships in 2021
- Also reached doubles quarterfinals of ITA South Region Championships in 2021
LAST TIME ON THE COURT
- Ole Miss women's tennis swept Missouri, 4-0, in the first round of the SEC Championships
- Lillian and Kelsey got it started by taking down the 83rd-ranked doubles team, 6-3
- It's the duo and team's second ranked doubles win of the year.
- Courts One and Two were in tight battles, attempting to secure the doubles point for the Rebels
- Ludmila Kareisova and Emma Kette eventually clinched the point in a 7-3 tiebreak win at No. 3 singles
- Ole Miss took care of business in singles, winning three in a row in straight sets
- Reka Zadori continues to be unstoppable at No. 6 singles, taking down her opponent 6-2, 6-1
- Finishing closely behind her, Gabrielsen won both sets by a score of 6-1 at No. 2 singles
- Rachel Krzyzak wrapped up the match at No. 5 singles in a 6-4, 6-1 victory

HEAD COACH MARK BEYERS
- Beyers is in his 22nd year coaching the Ole Miss women's tennis team.
- He has compiled a 280-242 record with Ole Miss and a 327-250 career record.
- Beyers earned ITA South Region Coach of the Year in 2010, 2012, and 2018.
- He has led the team to seven NCAA Second Round appearances and one Sweet 16 appearance.
- He coached the only Ole Miss NCAA Singles Champion, Arianne Hartono, in 2018, as well as four CoSIDA Academic All-Americans and 35 All-SEC honorees.
- Prior to Ole Miss, Beyers spent three seasons as the head coach of the women's tennis team at his alma mater Armstrong Atlantic State. The team captured the NCAA DII National Champion-ship, posted a 50-8 record, and won the Peach Belt Conference each year.
OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE NET
Auburn
The Tigers finished their 2022-23 campaign, compiling 18-7 and 8-5 SEC records. According to the ITA National Team Rankings, Auburn is currently ranked the 16th-best team in the nation. The team has also shown a level of toughness, winning six matches by a score of 4-3. Senior Carolyn
Ansari is ranked the highest on the team at No. 19, with an 18-12 singles record. Ansari's doubles partner, No. 35 Ariana Arseneault, is 19-14 in singles. Together in doubles, Ansari and Arsenault are ranked No. 20 in the nation with a 16-12 record. Auburn's two freshmen have also been huge contributors. DJ Bennett is 16-9 in singles, and Kaitlyn Carnicella is 20-22. As a doubles pairing, the two freshmen are 17-4. The Tigers also have the 76th-best doubles team of Anastasia Astakova and Adeline Flach with a 2-1 record.
REBS IN THE RANKINGS
Kareisova continues to climb the ITA Singles Rankings, moving up 12 more spots to No. 50. The sophomore took down her highest-ranked singles opponent of her career against Tennessee. Karei-sova defeated No. 21 Elza Tomase in three sets, 6-4, 3-6, 1-0 (7). She also went toe-to-toe with the No. 3 ranked Lea Ma, forcing a third set before the match was abandoned.
FAMILIAR FOE
Ole Miss faced the Auburn Tigers back in early March. The Rebels lost a close 4-3 match, which came down to the last singles match. Despite losing the doubles point and two early singles matches, Ole Miss rebounded with three singles matches of their own. Krzyzak put the Rebels on the board at No. 6 singles. Kareisova then defeated No. 41 Carolyn Ansari. Gabrielsen tied up the score with a straight-set victory at No. 3 singles.
In 22 SEC Tournaments, Ole Miss and Auburn have never played each other. Thursday's match will be the first time in program history the teams will face off in the tournament.
SEC TOURNAMENT HISTORY
The SEC began determining an SEC Tournament Champion in 2000, and five teams have won the SEC tournament title. In 22 SEC Championships, Ole Miss has compiled a 14-22 record, advanc-ing as far as the semifinals three times. The Rebels are 8-8 in the second round with the team losing three straight. Ole Miss looks to turn it around and appear in the quarterfinals for the 12th time. The team sets its eyes on earning the program's first SEC tournament title.
CAREER YEARS
Several Rebels have topped career-high marks this year in multiple categories. Four Rebels won their most singles matches, and two won their most dual singles matches. Ole Miss also had three players surpass their most dual doubles victories. Kelsey Mize passed her dual doubles wins, and overall doubles wins in a season, helped by her most wins at No. 2 doubles with eight. With nine, Gabrielsen also won more matches at No.2 doubles than ever. The senior took home eight wins in her first time playing at No. 3 singles.
Kareisova had a breakout sophomore campaign, taking down seven ranked opponents and earning her most victories at No. 2 singles with 10. The Czechia native also got more No. 1 doubles wins compared to her first year at Ole Miss.
