Wide Receiver Jonathan Mingo Drafted by Carolina in Second Round of NFL Draft

He becomes the seventh wide out drafted out of Ole Miss in the last decade
KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Making it just eighth picks into the second round, Jonathan Mingo was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the NFL Draft on Friday evening. The 6'2" receiver was the 39th overall selection of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Mingo, who started 40 career games over his four years in Oxford, finished the 2022 season with 861 receiving yards and five touchdowns. He broke the Ole Miss single-game record for receiving yards last season vs. Vanderbilt after tallying 247 yards on nine catches, with two receiving TDs. For his career, Mingo finished with 112 catches and 1,758 receiving yards.
He becomes the seventh wide receiver from Ole Miss to be drafted in the last decade, and the fifth during that time to go in the first two rounds. Mingo is the fourth consecutive Rebel wideout to go in the second round of the NFL Draft, joining Elijah Moore in 2021 (34th overall), A.J. Brown in 2019 (51st overall), and D.K. Metcalf in 2019 (64th overall).
The third and final day of the NFL draft begins tomorrow at 11 a.m. CT with rounds four through seven.
