Former Kansas State Golfer Heads to Oxford for Final Year of Eligibility

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss men's golf hit the portal in full swing, adding big-time graduate transfer Tim Tillmanns from Kansas State to the 2023-24 squad, head coach Chris Malloy announced Wednesday.

Tillmanns, a four-year letter-winner at Kansas State beginning in 2019, comes to Oxford having 32 career tournaments played underneath his belt, logging a 71.85 career stroke average.

"Anytime that you can add a player of Tim's caliber to your program is special," said Malloy. "We have had success with players in his position before and I expect the same result with him. He will also bring experience to a relatively young squad. We can't wait to get him on campus."

Tillmanns comes off a standout senior season where he earned six top-20 finishes, including five top-10 and two top-5 finishes, in his 11 tournament appearances for the Wildcats. The Cologne, Germany native logged a career-best 70.21 stroke average in his senior season, shooting 24 out of his 33 rounds par or better. Tillmanns was a steady leader for K-State in 2022-23 with 91.67 percent of his rounds counting towards the team score.

In his final season at Manhattan, Kansas, Tillmanns helped K-State to its best fall season in school history which included three straight tournament championships (Wildcat Invitational, Old Town Collegiate, Oregon State Invitational). The Wildcats went on to win their fourth tournament of the season in the spring at The Johnnie O at Sea Island with the help of Tillmanns who grabbed the individual championship, the first of his collegiate career, with a career-low 54-hole score of 198 (-12). Kansas State and Tillmanns went on to punch their ticket to the 2023 NCAA Bath Regional for the Wildcats' second-straight postseason appearance, finishing the regional in 6th place.

In his junior season, Tillmanns competed in 11 events, tallying a team-best 72.52 stroke average. He captured a team-high seven top-20 finishes, including four in the top-10. Tillmanns recorded 15 even/under-par rounds during the 2021-22 season. His 2-under par 214 overall score at the NCAA Norman Regional led the Wildcats in a tie for 14th place, which was the highest finish by a Wildcat at an NCAA regional since 2006. The performance was highlighted by a 5-under par 67 second round, the lowest round by a Wildcat in postseason history.

Tillmanns participated in nine events, including a bid to the NCAA Stillwater Regional during his sophomore campaign. Tillmanns became the 14th all-time Wildcat to earn an individual bid to the postseason. During the 2020-21 season, he tallied a 72.75 stroke average, the second-best on the team, and earned three top-10 finishes, including two in the top five.

In his first year at K-State, Tillmanns saw action in one event before the season was cut short due to COVID-19.

Before his time at Manhattan, Tillmanns was a member of the German Junior National Team where he represented Germany at the 2018 European Boys Team Championship. Tillmanns is set to begin playing with the Rebels beginning in the fall of 2023 as a graduate.
