Kid Coach Avery Bell

Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach: Avery Bell

5/9/2023 | Baseball

Kid Coach is a partnership between Children's of Mississippi and the Ole Miss Rebels to salute pediatric patients. Their inspirational stories remind us just how truly courageous these young people are.

This week's Children's of Mississippi Kid Coach is Avery Bell of Pearl, MS.

Avery has been beating the odds from the start. Before she was born, she was diagnosed with Turner syndrome, a genetic disorder that can cause a wide range of complications, including heart defects. At Avery's birth, when testing showed heart abnormalities, Avery came to the NICU at Children's of Mississippi right away. She had heart surgery at Children's Heart Center at just one week old.

With continued treatment, Avery is living a healthy and happy life. Her care team at Children's of Mississippi includes physicians and staff in cardiology, endocrinology, otolaryngology, audiology, allergy and immunology, gastroenterology, ophthalmology and urology.

Now age 13, Avery's health challenges don't bring her down at all. She is upbeat and going strong.

Have fun at Saturday's game, Avery. Your friends at Children's of Mississippi are cheering for you!
