6/14/2023 | Men's Golf
Inaugural Tournament will Feature 12 of the Nation’s Top College Golf Programs
BILOXI, Miss. – The Ole Miss men's golf program will collaborate with Mississippi State University and University of Southern Mississippi's golf teams to host the inaugural Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational on October 14-17, 2023. The field will include Louisiana State University, Auburn, University of Nevada – Las Vegas, Wisconsin, University of Kansas, University of Central Florida, Colorado, Iowa, and Southern Methodist University.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament will compete on the par-72 Fallen Oak course and will begin Sunday, Oct. 15 and conclude on Tuesday, Oct. 17. Six male student-athletes from each university will compete for team and individual championships. A collegiate-am will precede the tournament on Oct. 14.
"The University of Mississippi is pleased to partner with Mississippi State and Southern Miss to host this prestigious event," head coach Chris Malloy said. "Fallen Oak has hosted many of the greatest golfers in the world for PGA TOUR Champions events and now it's our opportunity to bring golf's next generation of champions to compete on one of the most spectacular courses in the country."
Fallen Oak, located on a 510-acre tract in Biloxi, Mississippi, will serve as the host course. The Tom Fazio-designed Fallen Oak features five sets of tees and extends 7,480 yards from the back tees. The course is characterized by a lush, rolling landscape covered in oak and pine ridges, magnolias, pecan groves, large lakes, winding streams and wetlands. The course features 10 bridges and concealed cart paths to protect the natural features of the terrain.
Opened in 2006 to rave reviews and debuted at No. 19 on Golf Digest's America's 100 Greatest Public Courses, Fallen Oak has proved to be an impressive course. Golfweek ranked it the best golf course "you can play" in Mississippi and for the 16th straight year, has named Fallen Oak the No. 2 Casino Course in the country.
The event is free and open to the public. For more information about Fallen Oak Collegiate Invitational collegiate-am teams and sponsorships, contact FallenOakCollegiate@gmail.com.
