Borellis and Daniel Guide Offense

OXFORD, Miss. – With excitement building for the first serve of Ole Miss volleyball's 2023 season, OleMissSports.com rounds out its position preview series with a look at the Rebel setters.

Ole Miss brings back both setters from a season ago. Aly Borellis and Sommer Daniel look to take the Rebels' offense to new heights in their second year in the system. Last season, the two guided the high-powered attack to 13.59 kills per set, a mark that ranked third in the SEC and 49th nationally.

After earning a spot in the SEC All-Freshman team in her rookie season, Borellis took her game to the next level by accepting an invitation to the U.S. Women's National Team Open Program, where she trained with some of the top athletes in the country. The Rochester, Michigan, native appeared in 25 matches a year ago, racking up 931 total assists. Borellis also added the second most digs on the team, with 214, and contributed 51 kills and 37 blocks.

Daniel also returns for her second year with the Rebels after transferring in from Utah. Last season, she saw action in 16 matches, tallying 270 assists. Now a senior, she looks to lead Ole Miss on and off the court as one of the team captains.

First serve of the 2023 season officially takes place on August 25 at 3 p.m. CT as the Rebels open play at the FGCU Homewood Suites Invitational in Fort Myers, Florida, taking on St. John's.
