Andrea Nova Begins Freshman Season Going 3-0 in Singles
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Ole Miss women's tennis saw the end of the June Stewart Invitational and the first fall tournament. The Rebels again excelled in doubles, taking three of the four matches. Andrea Nova had an outstanding weekend, finishing her first collegiate tournament with three singles wins and one doubles win.
The Rebels performed well in doubles in two straight days, notching three more doubles wins on Sunday. Overall, the team accumulated eight total doubles wins during the three-day event. The first, on Sunday, came from Ava and Briana doing their thing. The transfer duo moved to 3-0 on the young season after a 6-4 victory on Court One.
Lucie Devier and Ludmila Kareisová did not wait long to defeat their Louisville opponents by a score of 6-2. Emma Kette celebrated her birthday with her first doubles win of the season in her first doubles match of the fall. The sophomore joined fifth-year senior Kelsey Mize for a 6-2 victory.
The Rebels competed against Vanderbilt and Lipscomb in singles and achieved two singles victories. Nova showed her dominance early and did not let up with a 6-3, 6-2 straight-set triumph. The freshman moved to 3-0 in singles. Reka Zadori also made it look easy to wrap up the weekend with a 6-1, 6-4 victory.
Three of the other five Rebels went on to a third-set super tiebreaker despite losing the first set.
Ole Miss is back in action next weekend, starting on Friday. The Rebels will send Kareisová in singles and Hrastar and Crowley in doubles to the ITA All-American Championships.
