Women’s Tennis Ends Run at ITA Regionals

10/14/2024 | Women's Tennis

AUBURN, Ala. – Ole Miss women's tennis concluded its time at the ITA Southern Regional on Monday.

Senior duo Anaëlle Leclercq-FIcher and Ludmila Kareisová saw their time at the tournament come to an end in the semifinal round of doubles. The tandem dropped their match, 3-6, 6-3 (8-10) to Auburn's DJ Bennett and Ava Hrastar.

Their feat marked the first appearance in the tournament semifinals for an Ole Miss pairing since Kareisová and Kelsey Mize did so in 2021.

The round consisted of two sets to six with a super tiebreak to seal the match. The Rebels kept it a close race, until Auburn had the pull away to clinch set one. In true fashion, Leclercq-Ficher and Kareisová battled back to force a super tie break.

After a hard-fought competition against the Tigers, in which the Rebels held a four-point lead at one point, Ole Miss fell in tight fashion.

Ole Miss takes an almost two-week break before heading to Nashville for the Vanderbilt Invitational from October 25-27.
