Gal Leads Charge for Women’s Golf at Landfall Tradition

WILMINGTON, N.C. – Ole Miss women's golf kicked off their final tournament of the 2024 campaign on Friday, as the Rebels shot 6-under in the first round of the Landfall Tradition.
Finding themselves in fourth place with two days to go at the Country Club of Landfall, the Rebels led the field in par-3 scoring, going 5-under. Additionally, Ole Miss made the third-most birdies (20) across all 17 teams in attendance to propel the Rebels to a 282 scorecard.
Nicole Gal started the day hot, making five birdies in the first six holes on the Dye Course to give her the early advantage. The junior notched a round score of 69 (-3) to see her into a share for sixth place after making the second-most individual birdies in the field with seven.
Senior Caitlyn Macnab was not far behind, going 2-under on the first day in North Carolina. Sitting in a tie for ninth place, Macnab is searching for her third top-10 finish this season and 19th throughout her career.
Kajsalotta Svarvar was the third Rebel to go under-par in Wilmington, firing home a 71 (-1) after a spotless back-nine. The lone freshman in attendance for Ole Miss tied for the best par- 3 scoring in the field, shooting 2-under to place herself into a tie for 13th heading into round two.
Also shooting a perfect back-nine with Svarvar, Filippa Sundquist went even-par in round one as she sits in a tie for 22nd. This marks the Kullavik, Sweden, native's sixth round shooting even or below par this season, ranking the second most on the team after Macnab.
Sophie Linder rounded out the Rebel lineup by shooting a 77 (+5) scorecard and ended the day tied for 70th.
Ole Miss will be back in action for round two of the Landfall Tradition tomorrow. Linder will kick start the Rebels as she is set to tee off of Hole 1 at 8:15 a.m. CT, with the other four to follow.
